Big Pete's 231 Bridgeport

Post by mzivtins » Fri Sep 13, 2019 3:46 pm

Pete is selling this engine, I cannot reply in the thread as I need to sort out my membership again (need to sort my paypal account to pay)

If a moderator wants to merge this into his sale thread then that's cool (hoping this flies under the banhammer ) https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/v ... 8#p1230758

This is my Bridgeport that I had built by rotary revs with ne expense spared, I clocked under 2500miles from new. Its still in warranty, I've asked Ben for the docs so I will post them when I get them, if someone needs that.

The engine had the following (plus more as memory is failing me ):
  • Top tier rebuild
  • Lightening and Balancing
  • Painted
  • Petit Racing titanium flywheel nut
  • Pulley kit (cant remember the kits name, but one of the best)
  • All new plastics
  • Every hose replaced with new parts, all top spec aftermarket items
  • Racing beat ultra lightweight flywheel
  • RR Coils
  • Iridium rx8 plugs
  • Hyper RH9 Alternator
The engine rebuild was over £6k excluding the flywheel & alternator

Over £500 worth of dyno time to develop the first map of its kind with RR (ecu etc included in Pete's sale!):

He is selling the exhaust system which I believe created the best sounding 8 there has ever been

I have the dyno results but cant attach yet:
HP: 208.7@8700rpm
TQ: 142.9@6100rpm
This engine makes peak r3 power at only 6800rpm... top dyno numbers are meaningless, this just shows how much faster the bridge is.
Street port comparison at the time:
HP: 188.1hp@8200
TQ: ??

The car will rev to 11,500rpm on the dash, its a lovely sound but not worth it as you go past peak power, maybe someone can put nos on it to help ;)

The build had a full pro alloy cooling system, that's rad and uprated hoses etc, the car never overheated.

The build thread for the car:

The reason I don't need this engine anymore as I am doing an engine swap.

was the engine balanced along with the alloy crank pulley and clutch pressure plate? would a different pulley and clutch affect the balance?

Pulley will be ok and a clutch pressure plate has a basic balance from new.
You could get the pressure plate dynamicaly balanced on it’s own if you wanted using a balanced flywheel
To answer your question they would be ok but could possibly be improved slightly.
