Well fitting the loom was certainly a challenge today as like numpty I had not labelled the injector plugs position when removing the loom weeks ago and they don't miraculously fall roughly into their correct position. So searched the interactive manuals on here and found the relevent wiring diagram with the colour codes for the injectors. A further search then took place to find out how to identify which injectors were No. 1 and which were No. 2.
All quite time consuming and tedious especially with 13 year old faded wiring colours and that a wire to the Primary No2 injector plug snapped off flush. Good job I have a spare loom from a previous donor engine to take a rpleacement plug from.
Just about on schedule for dropping the motor back in tomorrow.

Motor is now in with great help from Dave2112 today in person and from BigPete on the phone. It was proving impossible after a couple of hours sweating sweating in the sun to get the the "B" thing to go the last bit. Pulled it out and removed the clutch and thinking the spigot beating may have collapsed I inserted the clutch alignment tool or at least tried to! The tool was very stiff to push in, a small squirt of lubricating penetrating oil on the tool and a bit of in and out and it freed up a lot. Clutch refitted and very carefully aligned by me as Dave tightened the bolts.
Pete asked if the clutch pedal had been pressed whilst the engine was out which it had been by accident. Without the clutch to push the slave piston back it happily just sits at full travel stopping the engine going fully home, so off came the clutch slave, awkward little jobby that.
30 minutes later the engine the slid fully home at the second attempt, and calm descended on the scene!
Refitting the clutch slave cylinder necessitated undoing the hose supporting bracket, loosening the bleed nipple and pushing the piston back, refitting the cylinder first and the bracket second.
Then I could fit the engine mounts and remove the hoist and start tidying up after another long day working on the car!
A tedious day, but also learning day, all because of that little slave cylinder!

Piped the remote oil filter setup this afternoon. When they say place the union in a vice and push the FBN hose onto it firmly what that means is FIRMLY as even when warmed its a seriously hard job to push on but it looks neat.
Still got a bit of plumbing and wiring to do!!

Dave came round today and refitted the exhaust, what a star, whilst I continued to sort out gauge connections and engine bay plumbing. It's taking an age to make progress as numerous pipes and wires have been re-routed thus requiring new runs, connections and an exponential amount of brain cell activity fathoming it all out especially when you discover that your new oil pipe run is right across where the bottom radiator hose needs to run.
Oh and did I mention some labels have been pulled off just to make life more challenging!

It was the remote oil filter piping that presented the biggest challenges and headaches. There was only about 1cm clearance to share between the unions on the old filter head take off and the bell housing / transmission tunnel. Routing the pipes withou the unions to get the length was straight forward, ish, but then with the unions on going back down the same route and tightening the unions was a two steps forward and one back affair!
The challenge today is to beat the blessed rain that's forecast!

Packaging/plumbing/wiring everything in the engine bay is difficult enough before you consider how much the engine needs to move on its mounts.

A friend fitted a turbo to a Capri 2.8 and didn't even get off his drive before it ripped the wiring loom and had torn a cooling hose.

Hopefully getting the supercharger back Monday evening or at latest Wednesday evening.
Everything is ready to just fit the supercharger, 3 bolts and connect up a few breather and vacuum pipes and it ready to turn the key except for one thing I don't have enough FL22 which was ordered today so hopefully will arrive by Wednesday. My two 5ltr cans turned out to be both more than half empty and the SC cooling system took the best part of that.
Gave the engine a couple of 10 second spins to move the oil around and will give it a couple more before going for the full start up!
Slight electrical issue in that I have no interior or door lights and the radio / sat nav unit is totally dead so I reckon its the live feed to the accessory circuit which hope fully wont affect the engine running side of things.

It feels good to have the car back on its wheels again after being 18" up in the air on 4 axle stands since 5th April, it feels a lot longer

I hope it's as simple as a blown fuse and that it does not blow again immediately it's replaced, then the fun begins if it does!
