Re: LED Tail lights
By the way for those who are not sure. Both rings are on as sidelights with some leds also down the side in a row. Both rings then get brighter when you brake. Standard reverse bulb (or cree led) goes in inner of inside ring. standard indicator bulb in inner of outside ring.
If you want cree bulbs these work well in the original lights
I bought these but didn't find them bright enough to see as they don't have the rear facing bulbs (I reverse up a dark driveway) but they may work in the new lights. I'm fitting mine tomorrow now i found my heat shrink tube (see page 11).
HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE:
Some reports about cheap bulbs have said that they overheat and can melt/explode/catch fire/murder your family*
I decided the difference in price of £7-8 ish from china or £26 from the uk for what could essentially be exactly the same bulb was a risk worth taking.
Also how long is a reverse light on that it could get so hot? I wouldn't risk them in driving lights though.
Again, I'll shut up as i sound like I'm ranting.

Re: LED Tail lights
Thanks all much clearer now, so not really full led, it's more to get the neat cases to but guess main tail lights and brake lights are led which is what matters most.

Re: LED Tail lights
The reliability of the cheaper modules on these lights would worry me. Which is why I went for the Kamikaze lights.
They use Hella modules which if you look on Amazon are pretty exspensive on their own!
There has been talk about a group buy on this thread why not approach Voljta (kamikaze) on Facebook and ask if they would entertain a group buy? The pound is pretty good against the euro at the moment so you maybe surprised on what's on offer.

Re: LED Tail lights
To be honest even going back a few years I have never found a bad word about the quality of the Spyder lights, they claim to use good quality Philips Lumileds in their units and the finished article looks to be well made certainly as good as the stock lights.
In comparison @ Kamikaze prices I doubt there will be a big demand for a group buy.

How much is shipping with carid.com? The price seems really cheap.

Re: LED Tail lights
The going price on eBay & the net seems to be approx` $208 per set, I paid $237.99 inc shipping the lights were then $200.04 (this was a group buy discount price) don`t forget taxes etc when they arrive here.

Re: LED Tail lights
GBP/USD exchange rate is unfortunately very bad at the moment, so that's another thing to consider.

Re: LED Tail lights
True.. Without shipping and costs it works out at £150ish. I'm in no real rush as I'm still trying to get hold of the decat I want. So maybe I'll wait for the pound to soar

Re: LED Tail lights
Just had a look see & the OE RX-8 R3 LED tail lamps are £753 a pair so the aftermarket Lights for the S1 are really quite reasonable.

Re: LED Tail lights
I've had these lights for over a year haven't had any problems with them. I left leds on the sides of the lights disconnected as i found them pretty bright and i think it looks better with them disconnected.

Chatting with Lewis from LC Rotary yesterday and watch this space, he's got about 20 sets of rear LED lights on order. I've earmarked mine already lol

Re: LED Tail lights
Thanks guys, no they're not from carID. I've seen some back feedback from them across the various rx8 groups/forums I'm on.
These were imported from the Taiwanese (iirc ? ) / factory they're made in through a local place here in Australia.
