Insurance Quotes

Post by pazza98 »

Again on the insurance side of things. I'm only a couple of years older than you at 27, and I think I'm looking at 800 - 900. I'd recommend trying for quotes on confused.com and elephant.co.uk. Elephant is Admiral, and Admiral was the cheapest for me on confused, but seems to have gone from there the last couple of times I tried, maybe because they have their own online division.

I think confused should give you a good idea of what's available, some are better than others in both price and service in case of claims, so pick carefully. ;)

Post split ...

For insurance, I'd really recommend Moneysupermarket.com, and do a search from there - if for no other reason than you only fill in 1 form!!! I get so p***ed off with every insurance site asking the same blinking details...

I found SwiftCover to be the cheapest (around £340), albeit I am a venerable 36.

Anyway buy the car, stop worrying about the money. If need be sell all your other possessions, pimp your partner, do dodgy deals - but buy the car. You'll soon see why we grin like loons!!! :D

This is the same with confused, well, one set of forms for about 30 or 40 insurers. Saves a lot of time.

I am 22 with 21 year old hubby.

£800 on my parents business policy which includes all the fun things like windscreen, fully comp and towing.

So far I have discovered my car actually uses less oil than my brothers BMW - he's puting in about 1ltr every day or so.

Then he rants his car.

Ok fuel is a bit more expensive than my VW polo but believe it or not Mazda servicing is actually cheaper for my 8 than it was for my VW.

And the Mazda is faster.

insurance

Post by k2nas »

hi all, picked up my RX8 last week....

My 1 week mazda insurance cover note runs out tomorrow so I've been searching hard for insurance- age 25 with 2 years NCB- ranging wildly from £750 with Admiral to £1700 with many of the other thieving insurance companies.

Obviously going for admiral, £750 appears resonable for our age range.

As for the petrol.... ouch, but like I read somewhere on the forum, this kind of MPG's (or is it GPM's!) is about par for this kind of performance.

I had a quote online through moneysupermarket search and came up with £410 but when i told them about the mods ie lowered 50mm,19" alloys and skirts ect.. it went throught the roof.
Best quote i got 37yrs with my wife 40yrs as main driver with 9yrs ncd came in at £659 full comp but £400 access with perfomance direct.

Guys,
I am looking at your insurance quotes here & i must laugh.
I am 26 going onto 27 very shortly & i will be paying £387 for the RX8 PZ.

Try www.elephant.co.uk ? I think, thats who i am with at the moment with my E Class.

I'm 41 and my wife is 34. We live in a respectable area (well it was until we moved in  ) and just had my renewal documents land on the door mat.

£390 with NU Direct (Protected 9 years NCB). Daylight robbery  . I paid £340 last year :!:

Will hunt around for a quote today.

That is a bit cheeky. Should add that my wife only passed her test in Summer 2005, so 380 seems fair enough.

I don't recall being able to drive a 230bhp sports car within a year of passing my test...

Oh goody

I love those older, more refined and sophisticated men.

Who know what nice young ladies really want.

Of course then they meet me!!! Nice and lady are not normally mentioned in the same sentence as my name. Lol.

Ah at a mere 22 I guess I must be the youngest forum member - can anyone beat that.

I guess I am baby spice then!!!!!

 Now I'm feeling r-e-a-l-l-y old! My NCB is older than some of you ... 27 years of claim free driving since passing my test when I was just turned 21 (so you do the maths ... need a calculator kids?  ).
All that amounts to me paying £371 with guaranteed ncb (as many claims as I care to make for as long as my knees allow me to use my old legs on the pedals). That's a load more than I've had to pay on any of my previous cars. I think I paid something like £30 for my first year - tpft on a 1000cc minivan with a window conversion - now that car was nearly as much fun as the RX8!

All I need to do is move somewhere away from London and get a garage and maybe I'd get a cheaper quote :(

And another thing - when I was your age .....

Look out for old gits asking "Would you like to see my Wankel little girl?"

This is a bit pointless unless you take in to account ALL the variables as insurance is a bit of a 'think of a number and treble it' game

but here goes...45, female, clean licence, car is garaged, full NCD (over 20 years) protected with motor legal protection etc 1 named driver,£200 voluntary excess...just renewed with Sheilas Wheels for £510 which was lower than last years by £20 and is the first time my insurance has ever gone DOWN  being an ould git has some benefits ;)
My younger sister pays less than me for her 230 with the same sort of history as above, as she lives in the sticks and I have a big city postcode!!

here i am 44 and wife 42 - and up until july had tons of years no claims 20+ then some bugger slams on his brakes i go into the back of him and it all disappears  dispite the 'protected' stuff. Still according to the documentation my wife is the main driver and i am named - only cost us £100 on top of what was left on the KA insurance - will have to wait until march before getting the bad news - don't expect it to be more than £350 tops.

We are with Nat West bank - who are owned by Bank of Scotland - who own Direct Line - so guess who my insurance is really with.

One day there will only be one giant company
