Go Japan 2026 - Brands Hatch

Brands Hatch welcomes a truly distinctive celebration of Japanese automotive culture with Go Japan! this August bank holiday Monday.

Visitors can explore an exceptional mix of vehicles and standout JDM builds.

On track, Time Attack UK will lead the action as drivers chase the fastest laps of the day in some of the most finely tuned machines in the country. The Racing Hondas Championship will add close competition from a grid of rapid tin top racers. Drift Exhibitions will bring dramatic sideways driving that showcases the style and precision at the heart of Japanese motorsport.

Visitors can enjoy Japanese themed traders, demonstrations and entertainment, along with a selection of hands-on activities including eating competitions.. Completing the experience is the OBSESSION Car Show, presenting some of the most striking and original builds anywhere in the UK.

Due to clash with a family vist, it's looking unlikely I will now be able to attend. Sorting out exact plans for that weekend, but more likely to be at a zoo

I've had it confirmed my son and family are staying with us Friday-Monday, so no car meets for me this August Bank Holiday.

I've removed my name from the list.

This is a good event, so I am surprised at the lack of interest, but maybe others are in the same position as me. This show never used to be on a B/H weekend.

I definitely will not be attending, as I've now purchased tickets at the Caffeine and Machine near Stratford upon Avon. On the day before, 30th of August. The event is being championed by Tyler Price.

I left Go Japan early today, and I want to explain why — because what happened on the RX8OwnersClub.co.uk stand had a direct and upsetting impact on my partner, who is disabled, and her autistic 11‑year‑old daughter, who was attending her first ever car show.

I’ve been part of this club for a long time. I owned my RX‑8 for 14 years, and like many members, I stayed because of the community, not just the car. For years, the club felt inclusive, even for those who have moved on from the RX‑8 but still value the friendships and shared history.

Today I attended with my partner and her daughter. We weren’t in an RX‑8, as mine has now been sold, but in her VW ID.3 — a car adapted with driving controls so she can drive safely and independently. Accessibility isn’t optional for her; it’s essential.

We were the first people on the stand, and we parked at the end specifically to give my partner the space she needs to get out of the vehicle safely. Her disability isn’t immediately obvious when she is still inside the car — but like many disabilities, it doesn’t need to be visible to be real. Despite this, we were asked to move because someone else wanted that spot. We moved without complaint, even though it reduced her accessible space.

What happened next is what really affected them. While I was away briefly, my partner and her daughter were still in the car and overheard members talking negatively about her vw vehicle “taking up space” on the stand. For a disabled person — and for an autistic child experiencing her first show, already dealing with sensory and social challenges — hearing that kind of judgement made them feel isolated, unwelcome, and embarrassed.

This wasn’t just about a parking space. It was about how disabled people and neurodivergent children are treated, spoken about, and included. Today, they felt the opposite of included.

I’m disappointed that a club which once felt welcoming now has members whose behaviour sends the message that disabled people — or anyone not currently in an RX‑8 — aren’t valued. It may not be the club itself, but members’ behaviour is what represents the club to the public.

A community is defined by how it treats people, especially those who rely on accessibility, understanding, and kindness.

I have to say I'm absolutely appalled to hear this

On behalf of the club and personally I would like to send my apologies to both your wife and daughter. This is not an experience anyone should have and is not behaviour that will be tolerated in this community

I'm disgusted that members of this Club behaved in a manor that caused distress to not only another member but to a child. I have never been so ashamed to be part of this Club as I have been reading this

Before this gets blown out of proportion, this must be recognised as an isolated incident. Firstly, I completely understand that any discriminating remarks from anyone in the club is totally unacceptable. My son in law has an autistic son from a previous relationship, and the dedication to his work and love for his son, is something to behold.
I spent Saturday with group of rotary enthusiasts at the Caffeine and Machine in Stratford-upon-Avon, and all the conversations were surrounding RX7s, RX8s and the rotary engine. Any comments that are derogatory and cause any offence have no place in RX8OC. Maybe those accused, would like to give their reasons for the way the situation was handled?

Just to clarify — my post wasn’t saying the comments were made because of disability. It was about how the situation made my partner and her daughter feel. A club stand should make people feel welcome, whether they’re still in an RX‑8 or not. I owned mine for 14 years and stayed because of the community, so it was disappointing to feel the opposite of that today.

The comments they overheard weren’t about disability — they were about the car “taking up space on the stand.” But the impact of those comments was real. Feeling unwelcome is something anyone can experience, and it’s even harder for someone who’s disabled or for a child at their first show.

I’m glad the committee is taking this seriously. My intention wasn’t to criticise the whole club, just to highlight what happened and why it matters that everyone feels included, regardless of what they drive now.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience today with your family
I would like to apologise from myself, the committee and the club to yourself , your wife and your daughter
You will know this is not usual behaviour from the club that prides itself on being inclusive and we have many friends and members who have stayed on after parting with their RX-8 for one reason or another as I talked to you about at JDM this year
You have been a good long standing member who has also served on the committee
I remember taking you round Castle Combe for your first track experience many years ago which may have been a bit hairy at times
You had a big grin on your face for the rest of the day though
