If we're set on being "this far" the other side of Reading (for me!), another fine location is The Queen's Head, Bradfield:
Southend Rd, Bradfield Southend, Reading RG7 6EY
Used the venue a few times with our RoSPA group as a daytime base for drive-outs and lunch after workshops... Car park is a bit tight, food is good, though limited selection from BBQ during summer. Landlord is a bit of a biking fanatic do pub is decorated appropriately so!

Happy to try it in the future Sean. We're just trying out places for a while to mix it up a bit. Also considering the Cunning Man at Burghfield Bridge for another month, which has just been refurbished and has a good car park.
