***'TRACKDAY', Brands Hatch Indy Circuit (Kent) - Friday 4th December 2026

Post by casey »

LIMITED PLACES AVAILABLE AT £149, a £25 discount!!

Early Bird tickets now sold out, price now £174, but still a good price for a trackday at Brands.

This has always been a very popular event with the RX-8 Owners Club, hosted by Nick Dougill and his great team at Mazdaontrack. There is a limit on the number of cars to 60 maximum. This gives plenty of tracktime with minimal pit-lane queues. Book early to avoid disappointment :D

See, here's proof we always get a sunny day
54187042672_355015c21e_o.jpg
And yes, this photo was taken in December 2024!!

For those of you who haven't been to this event before, it has become a bit of a tradition really, although not quite on the scale or prestige of Wimbledon :D , it has been a regular event in the club calendar, attended by me every December** since its inception in 2008 :D . Please consider supporting this event to keep it going.

**Apart from the year it was postponed to January, due to 2 feet of snow on the track ;) .

If you've not been before, all newcomers are very welcome - you might like to see last year's topic for more information JUST CLICK HERE

Plus, here's a briefing specifically about the Brands Hatch Indy circuit: viewtopic.php?f=169&t=61972

So, let's start the ball rolling

Track and event details for anyone new:

PRICE:
Trackday - £174

CIRCUIT STATS:
Length - 1.2 miles (Indy)
Corners - 5
Noise - 105db (compulsory stationary test)

PROVISIONAL TIMINGS OF THE DAY:
- Sign On 07:30 - 08:30
- Briefing: 08:30am
- OPL from 09.00
- Lunch 12.30-13.30
- OPL 13.30
- Track Closes 16.00 (day light permitting)

Book your place direct with Mazdaontrack via THIS LINK.

Unless you'd like a garage to yourself, or want to share one with a friend, I suggest you DON'T book a garage as, when we know the numbers attending, I will arrange to get a block of garages together to share 3 per garage at ~£10 per head
(PayPal or Bank transfer in advance preferred. I will request this in November).

Newcomers to trackdays are very welcome; please be aware that the track can be a little cold, wet and greasy at this time of the year, so can be more challenging to drive - and more fun, learning car control, better than trying to do it on the road :D Luckily, we've often been blessed with cool, but bright, sunny days, where most of the track dries out and warms up a bit by late morning. Not the case in 2025, but I found with the right tyres, Continental Contact Sport 7's, an incredible level of grip can be had.

We may be able to offer a "Buddy" to anyone who requests one. This means you will be assigned uan experienced trackday driver who will stay with you from the very start of the day until you are happy to untie the knot. The Buddy can help you as much or as little as you want; help with checking your car, signing on, noise testing, getting to the briefing, passenger laps (you driving, and/or Buddy driving to show lines), etc. we always recommend people new to the track also book a "formal" tuition slot, 20 mins with a qualified instructor for £35. Great value for money if you are new to trackday driving.

If you are unfamiliar with Brands Hatch then this will help you visualise what it's like to drive;
(Click on the "gearwheel" and select 1080p to get the HD version of the video)

Booked. I needed a reason to fix at least one of the cars. Don’t know if I’ll be there in the RX8 or ATR.
I thought that the 12 places shown at the top were the early bird spaces, but hence they are not :( I’m assuming they’re sold out, because the fee is £174 now not £169.

Looking forward to it! Up for sharing a garage if ones available too? Can’t do the meal as it’s my daughters birthday.

List in first post updated. If I have missed anything, or made any errors, let me know.

With less than 2 months to go, places could start to run out very quickly. There is a local car club that regularly block books places and if they make a booking, it could sell out the remaining places, so don't wait until the last minute if you'd like to come along :D

Just booked, will be in my RX-8. Happy to share a garage, can't make the meal and I'll have to leave early afternoon.

Is there general parking available? My friend is coming in their own car to be a passenger.

Hi Tridi. Great to have you come along to this trackday with other RX-8 owners :thumleft:

We aim to share one garage between 3 cars, works out about £10 each (I will request this nearer the event by PayPal or bank transfer). We can fit two cars in the garage and one on in the paddock behind. The main thing is to have an area to store gear and provide shelter. As the day progresses, there will pretty well always be 1 or 2 cars out of 3 on track. Priority for garage use will go to anyone who needs to work on their car (changing tyres, brake pads, etc). We've done this for 15+ years and it works well. We will have a table set up in one of the garages with water, kettles, tea, coffee, sugar, fresh milk and a few snacks, free for all to share. There will be some mugs to use, but bring your own if you can, in case everyone forgets and we run short

Yes, there will be plenty of parking in the paddock area behind our garages for your friend's car. Ideally along the fencing, or the lower end of the paddock area, to allow track cars to get to the garages. No problem though.

Do you have track driving experience? Have you driven Brands Hatch before? If you need any help from other drivers who know the track well, just let us know and we can help to get you started at the beginning of the day.

Thanks for the info, I'm looking forward to it.

The only track time I've had is at Silverstone during JapFest a few years ago, in my Civic. I've also done the skid pan at Thruxton in the RX-8 and a few kart races.

I've only "driven" Brands Hatch in GT7, so I am familiar with the layout, but I included the tuition slot in my booking.

If I get my trailer in time I'll fetch the race car. But I'd like to see what the road car can do, it's not had chance to stretch it's legs since it's last upgrade.
