Took battery out to check charge, cleaned terminals and connectors with baking soda. Tried to put it back together but cant tighten positive terminal. Cant get in with spanner/pliers. Connector is way to loose and cant drive it like that. Car now doesn't work. Still no engine mounts from JDM. Really pissed off.

If the clamp still has the original grey plastic spacer in the middle then take out the bolt, remove the spacer and throw it away, replace bolt and it should tighten, as long as you push down hard on the taper.

The original Japanese battery would have had a slightly fatter post than the European (and rest of world) standard.

Had knocking noise coming from passengers side while driving, very faint noise, sounded like something rolling in door compartment. On closer inspection anti roll bar link had broken. Nice job to do on the weekend 😎

Thanks. In the end I rang my breakdown provider and the guy put a screw in to tighten the connector. So at least it's working again. Mentioned the intermittent no-crank issue and he immediately said starter motor. I'm prepared to change the starter but i'm still waiting for these bloody engine mounts from JDM. I don't know if the existing mounts are causing the engine to be at an angle but I'd rather they were done first and if the starting issue isn't related to that then I'll get the starter changed.

Not so much done anything to the RX8, but I got my £180 spare parts engine off the pallet and onto the operating table. Turned it over by hand and there is no crunchy grindy noises so that's a plus! Also it does have some compression cuz you can hear it suck in and blow out. Dissecting will begin shortly.

With no work to do until more parts arrive to continue with engine mounts, diff output shaft seals, and the PZ suspension swap from the 192, I've spent the evening researching the jobs, lining up extra tools required, and printing off service page/forum threads to have at hand when I embark on these slightly more major pieces of work 😁

Decided to finally buy my "belated" birthday present even though I've not yet had my final pay packet from the agency I worked for... So received one Ryobi One+ 400nm impact wrench. To go with the two ryobi tools my mate sold me earlier in the year plus the 3 batteries he sold me too.. Add the lovely "12 tools of christmas promotion" and I get one free 5.0AH charger as well...

Also ordered 2 more axle stands. If its dry enough sometime even though its winter I'm going to slap the decat on the car.. Since the level of effort is now so much lower. :p

New rattle coming from the passenger side parcelshelf area.
Based on previous experience I'm thinking broken suspension spring. No noticable change in handling however. Just the rattle ....

Multicutter (already have an impact gun) + a suprise. From short list of three.

I did consider the 5ah charger but there are some very mixed Amazon reviews on longevity. Does come with decent warranty so just make sure you use it regularly.

The way I looked at it was either the charger or the battery.. And I have 4 batteries already (2 1.3ah 1 2.0ah and 1 2.5ah) obviously the kit came with a slower charger, so I should be good for charging batteries/having charged batteries about. In theory anyway. 😂

I've a mate at work who regularly purchase milwakuee things.. And doesn't want his missus to find out. Some how gets away with it.

His missus bought his Christmas presents in SGS for him... With his card details still in. Bit of an oops that. 😂

WRT batteries think I'll shortly have two 1.4ah (original from drill kit that got me started 5+ years ago), one 4ah, one 5ah(Chinese knock off but seems good so far) and the new 2ah so well batteried....
And thankfully a second charger!

Hopefully doesn’t need much work but you never know until it’s on a ramp I guess :?

Well, I started pulling my engine today. It’s my first time doing this so wish me luck guys

Unfortunately I bent my pulley a bit, tried hammering it back down but it just wouldn’t work. Don’t think that this would be loving life at 10.000RPM :D

Will continue stripping the engine down tomorrow. Can’t wait for my engine hoist to arrive so I can finally pull it out next weekend

There’s a brilliant guide on the US Rx8 club with step by step photos
Only thing it doesn’t mention is drilling the ecu bracket off .
Oh
And remove the cat
It’s easier to get to the 2 high bolts on pit drivers side of the car
Think your in Europe ?

I do know that guide (i think at least, got it from the US forum), it really is good, just changed some steps to make it easier (hope so). Didn't need to drill the ECU bracket fortunately as this isn't its first engine. I'm not too scared to pull it as a do have some experience working on cars, pulling the engine in an RX-8 is a first tough.

Yes, I am in Europe. I'm from Germany tough, that's why it's LHD
