I need to get myself some de-something water so I can do a coolant flush etc at some point now I have a lovely 10L of FL22 from Harry... The question is if Ill get a chance before winter fully sets in.
Do you know what was in there before and if it needs a proper flush? If you've got FL22 in there already you might get away with just a drain and refill. Much quicker.

I'm only gonna flush mine (and replace the rad) because I want to ensure all of the gunky K-Seal I put in there comes out.

No clue what is currently in there. When we were at Dans BBQ however, James looked in and said it definitely didn't look FL22-ish. So going by his expertise.. Safe to say its probably not FL22. Hence a full hopefully ChrisFix-esq flush before new FL22 goes in will do the job.

James looked inside and said your water doesn't look right. So you need a good flush. I knew I left too early that night

No need to use demineralised/deionised water for a flush, only if it's starting in for any length of time.

Just ordered 20 litres of FL22 and 25L of de-mineralised water. Gotta love a bulk buy. Gonna do a radiator flush for the first time myself soon before me new Koyo radiator and new engine arrive. I'll save the excess FL22 for when the engine goes in.

Been busy today confirmed the SSV solenoid fault when hot, washed the car just as the sun was setting and filled up a full tank
Did you manage to get it out?! Those solenoids are a pain to get to, the access is so bad. Bigpete has an impressive technique to get at them.
Don’t forget when draining the coolant system that asides from the radiator drain bung there is the engine block drain on the centre iron passenger side.

Nah haven't attempted it myself got it booked in on the 22nd at RR for them to do it, without having a garage it's annoying to get anything done in this weather myself

Carried out a compression test on the replacement engine I fitted to get it to JDM and it’s not good.

Front. Bar: 4.7 4.2 4.6

Rear. Bar: 4.0 4.0 4.1

Not the low 5’s I was told when I bought it but at least they are even

Hopefully get a few track days out of it while I get a replacement engine built.

When compression figures get low, evenness will help it start and run longer than an engine with a few high numbers but uneven.

The absolute numbers can vary depending on the test equipment.

Even just the length, and therefore volume, of any connection pipe can make a significant difference.

This is another reason why consistency across chambers is more important than the actual numbers.

It does take forever to start but apart from the hesitation through 6k it reveals fine to the beeeep
Will remove and clean the SSV and the other one above ? What ever that’s called. Then see if the hesitation clears.

Nice one.

Took mine out for a wee blat this evening, got a little stretch of dual carriage way with a couple of snakey bits, had a bit of fun beeping it through there. I can't believe I was going to sell this car.

Definitely need to get the 6 speed in and the rev limit bumped up, if for nothing else to experience that scream :D

Fitted a tracker👍 just in case you never know 🤔
Uses an app and Google maps, must say its much better than I expected given the cost.
Hopefully never need to use it.

Unboxed the new engine to get a bit more room, might tart it up before installation, just need some ideas.

Tried to work out whats making the whiny noise at the rear. Seems to be in the middle, so I’m guessing it may be a problem with the diff. Still makes the noise when car is moving but in neutral. Oil was changed in Feb, and I’m sure it wasn’t there when i got the car a couple of months ago.

Also my third attempt at stopping water getting into the boot after it rains has failed lol, Same corner every time, changed the seals etc.

But its sunny out, so time for a drive in the countryside to make myself feel better :)

While the diff is the most obvious cause, check that it isn't the fuel pump or the audio system.

You can pull fuses to disable the audio amps for testing.

Just about all you can see when its installed is the front cover so personally I would leave it as it is.

Yes I know I was more on the side of polishing and coating to avoid dullness and corrosion.
