Mine only turns down to 15 as well. The temp reading was from a thermometer probe stuck inside the air vent. So 6 degrees was the air that the air con was chucking out, not the overall cabin temp. It probably warms up once it mixes with the warmer air in the cabin.nightfire10 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 8:22 pmIf I turn my aircon down it only turns to 15New Duke wrote:Just had an air con specialist round to look at all three of my cars. It did feel chilly in the the car, but I'd assume not lower that 15 degrees. Hard to tell on such a hot day even in me garage!
I totally just sat in the car today with it idling in my garage with the air con on. To bask in the cold air. LEAST efficient air conditioner ever

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I reckon I probably do need regassing of my RX8 A/C after all these years but it's done very well. I'd say it still blows cold but not as cold as it used to.
However readily admit even now it still beats the AC in my CX5. The CX5 uses some eco AC modes by default but even on full AC I don't think can keep up with my RX8 after almost 15 years!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The cabin thermostat display only goes down to 15°C, at which point the A/C is on full all the time, unless the PCM decides otherwise - it will still cut in/out at idle to manage revs and disengage if you floor the throttle for maximum acceleration. - but otherwise it just gets as cold as it can.New Duke wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 1:58 amMine only turns down to 15 as well. Obviously, once you've displaced the bulk of the overheated air, further cooling is most effective on recirculate.

Is it all that hard to take it back and properly re-coat it all? I guess it's off the car so worth doing for your spare. Or is it entirely dependent on the rust condition?

I'm not sure. I've given it a good going over with a hammer and screwdriver and not make any holes. I am likely concerned with some of the damage I did getting the adjustable bolts out.HarSc wrote:Is it all that hard to take it back and properly re-coat it all? I think a bit of welding to tidy up a couple of niks from the angle grinder it might be okay.

Touch less wire, touch more gas and a bit more prep and you'll be reet. Granted I haven't held a torch in at least 5 years.ChrisHolmes wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 3:23 pmWelded in a threaded eye to Dave2112s front crash bar on the Kamikase.

In other news, my car suddenly won't idle properly when cold, randomly hunts, bogs and misfires. Yay, coils came out yesterday and all looked OK, checked all the battery earth's and terminals, they're all clean and tight.
Guess I'll be cleaning the MAF, ESS and checking the plugs today then.
Expect a post about where to source D585s shortly, he says, regretting having the dwell changed.
