A tip that I was given was to use some silicon sealer to help stick them in place

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Hopefully sorted the SC pulley alignment issue today, details are in the RR54 thread. Traced the oil gauge not reading issue back to the connector in the signal wire being crimped on the insulation and not on the bared core, maybe this car really is a devil car as Ranjan christened it.

Fitted the RRP dual res decat I got from Chris over the weekend. So nice to drive, and definitely not quiet when opened up.
Just a certain manifold to go, and it's back on the dyno for remapping.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Went to go and register the PZ on my Dartford Crossing account but the car was rejected as it is already registered on the previous owner's account. As a result I have had to snap a photo of the V5 and send it off to them.
Do they really get people trying to pay the crossing fee for cars other than their own?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Drove c50 supercharged miles, mixed motorway cruise and twisters so a good shakedown so it looks like I got the belt misalignment sorted. Oooh! It feels quick and the whine adds a different dimension to driving an 8. The REV8 RB exhaust has a great mellow tone but honestly the best bits are it starts as it did when NA, braps more than when NA and doesn’t cut out at junctions which SC Renesis can have a habit if doing.
This day has been a while in coming so now I just need the get the car onto a dyno and see what the power and torque look like.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
You running a cat or a decat? That's pretty much rear O2 sensor or the cat itself (most likely cat though I believe) or a possible exhaust leak... Worth running some cataclean through it or pulling it to check what it's looking like. if you're running a decat, then it's basically a confirmation code that yes, your decat is fine and carry on
I believe the test conditions to trigger that code is ran at 1500-3500rpm for 20s. So cruising at 60/70 generally will pick that up pretty quick.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Original cat at 82k miles. Thing is I have a rebuild planned in within the next 3-4 weeks, I'm just worried if I should drive the car until then as I have no other wheels at the moment. Plus it will be a 100 miles to Coventry for the rebuild itself. One of the spark plags lost an electrode (god knows when it was found out last week) and got replaced, I wonder if that shortened the life of the cat. That is if it's not just the sensor.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
If its 82k miles on the original cat you'll likely find its in pieces and hence the code. Not ideal to run like that! But with a rebuild on the cards anyway...? Wouldn't take five minutes to whip the cat off if you have the tools and have a look at the catalytic bank.
