Just found it - thank you. Using card as a template for the mount is a good idea. I'll take a look at my engine bay in the morning and think his solution is inspired.

I didn't see it. It would be specific to the model of 2 stroke tank he used which is understandable. viewtopic.php?f=204&t=50241&p=704096&hilit=tank#p704096

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
This is interesting! I'd often wondered what was to stop people just mounting their own tank, but now I see (and further searching after reading this) suggests it's actually pretty common. I guess there's never going to be a way to avoid buying an adaptor plate for the pump itself though
It's a bit involved, but this is a neat solution! https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-you ... ox-213640/

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The US Sohn tank solutions that replace the washer bottle don't normally cater for the extra outlet needed for our 231's, as they didn't get HID lights as standard on any of their models, so it's not that common.
Obviously not an issue for a UK 192 either.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The guy making the kit I used (that really common one with the evil M logo on the plate) caters to RHD 231s with the extra pump for the headlights. I had to be sure to specify mine as a RHD 192 due to that.warpc0il wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:19 pmThe US Sohn tank solutions that replace the washer bottle don't normally cater for the extra outlet needed for our 231's, as they didn't get HID lights as standard on any of their models, so it's not that common.

Got the car to the garage today to get the coolant leak checked. One of the clips rusted away, got that replaced and sorted. Happy days.
Starting to do my research on my rebuild and going to send some feelers out. Planning it for March, thinking of HME and TPS mainly.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I used a moped tank (from a Piaggio iirc) and an adaptor to step up to the sohn device, holds around 800ml has a built in level sensor and fits in by the brake booster.SmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 8:18 pmI am currently playing with ideas for a SOHN/COF tank and don't want to lose the huge windscreen washer tank. My first thought was one type of motorcycle 2 stoke tank but the one I got was too wide at the bottom. I've had a good look at the 192 engine bay and the only decent place I can see to place one is (which looking from the front of the car) the back left corner to the left of the brake master cylinder.
An ideal container would be cylindrical and there are a couple of decent spots where straps could be fitted or, possibly, holes drilled and self-tapping and washered screws can be used. It's not as if the tank is going to be regularly taken out.
I am waiting for a Yamaha PW50 tank to arrive (£10), but it holds only 350ml and so I am looking into the option of having two of them and joining the outlet with a simple hose and T-bar set up. If there isn't space, the other option is for the DT125R oil bottle (£17) at 900ml but I cannot find the exact dimensions of this.
I am probably going to spend more on failed attempts than buying the kit from the USA and having it sent over, but I want to try and find a solution and whizz up to BigPete and create a path that others are free to follow.
My other issue is that the RRP COF needs a hose with ID of 10mm and these 2 stroke tanks have tubes with ID of 5mm. I know I can get step up connectors but that is an ugly solution unless I can hide the connector somehow.
Can't seem to find a decent shot of the engine bay but you can see it at at the top of the bay

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
My rebuild was carried out by Hurley's, quick turn around and I'm currently on just over 40,000 miles on this rebuild(I did have a bearing spin on original rebuild, but they sorted it under warranty, at that point the engine had covered 10,000 miles and was 20 months into thier 2 year warranty)sztriki wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 11:26 pmGot the car to the garage today to get the coolant leak checked. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So after my low level issue I have been very lazy as I haven’t had to drive the car. So I thought today I would try to solve it and to my surprise my engine block had a lot of oil where the sandwich plate was for my sensors. So I took off the filter which had zero oil in it.... so I guess the oil leak might explain the light now

One vote for TPS from me. 3500 miles on my streetport from them and loving the engine so far.sztriki wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 11:26 pmGot the car to the garage today to get the coolant leak checked. One of the clips rusted away, got that replaced and sorted. Happy days.

I forgot to say. The gray circle is held in with 2 clip tabs, one top one bottom. I found the best way was to punch out the reflector from the bulb hole to get to them.Pippypip wrote:First lens cut for the new lights. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So I have now done both the lights and completely disassembled one now.
I think I will do two separate write ups for it, one for the tear down for anyone who wants to make custom lights and then one for the actual build and wiring.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So after 2 hours of messing about and soldering I have finally ended up with this....
The way that I have had to wire it is strange as it’s a circle and I need the middle section to be on wires to go out of the light and down to the standard fog light connection.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Just did the cx5 washer jets upgrade for anyone that's interested the part numbers are kd45-67-510 and kd53-67-510 only issue is the entry is from directly underneath, rx8 are from the side, but you can reroute the pipes and you don't need to cut anything, these jets won't block in a hurry

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So I just tested the fog light part of my new rear lights and found out 2 of my led arrays don’t work which is incredibly annoying as I don’t have a bench tester here which means to make sure everything works I have to go down to my car and make sure it works off of the car

Booked her in to have 4 wheel alignment, and set suspension up for fast road and lift her up about 10mm.
Sick of scraping over white lines
Going to Tuned in Llay.
Will post the improvements, only worry is their ability to free the camber adjusters.
Oil and filter change on Sunday, well overdue.
