Took it out for its first proper drive since having the recall work done (airbags + fuel tank) - about an hour in, the airbag light starts to flicker/flash then comes on solid. Later when I took it out again, the light would clear, flash, then go solid again. So I'll be calling up the dealership today to get that sorted.

On Saturday morning i reached the 100k mile mark whilst driving down from Newcastle to Leeds. All on the original engine with no rebuild!

It got me thinking how all the bad press about the reliability is really unjustified...............then about 30 minutes later the car kicked me in the balls.....I arrived in Leeds and the oil warning light came on, but i had topped up the oil before i set off so I new something was up

Thankfully I was just at IKEA around the corner from Rotary Revs and drove it straight over. Looking like new Oil lines needed but awaiting confirmation. RRP's new R3 lines landed in the nick of time

The kid can kiss goodbye to his XBox for Christmas

If they claim that "It's been too long since the work was done" just remind them that they would have recorded the mileage on the recall job invoice, and the mileage now is only...

Okay so I know some of you will think that this is a bad idea and I agree but I saw this wheel and fell in love with it.

So after selling my old wheel to Chris I couldn’t get use to the oem Rx8 whee and wanted something alcantara again. I know that obviously I have lost the airbag but I am hoping to get the car caged and to run harnesses in the near future.

That looks nice 8)

If you decide you want to retain the airbag but still have an alcantara wheel there's another solution :D

Royal Steering Wheels will re-trim your OEM wheel to your spec :thumleft:

I had one of the polish built ones with the flat bottom, but it didn’t go with the colour scheme I’m going for. The previous owner had about 5 different colours going throughout the car, so I’m slowly reverting everything to blue and black. Next up is hydrodipping the interior in carbon and maybe carbon with a slight blue tint for accents but I need to decide if it will look tacky or not first Image.

Whilst doing the alignment after my subframe and poly bush swap Fergus pointedly out that my discs were cracked. I hadn’t been too concerned about the small cracks across some of the drill holes but he was and advised against, actually told me not to do another track day with them.

Mine went this way Chris and were replaced with conventional brake discs from some that Aston had in stock. Not sure of the make but were not anything special and easily available.

Standard Calipers and discs may be the way I will go. I just dimensionally back to backed the discs and bells and the offset is different for the fronts but I could put standard discs on the rear which makes sense.

I didn’t actually ask what the settings were! I specified similar usage to yourself.

Compression tester arrived today(dct500). Followed the guide on here as well as the info sheet included. Disconnected the ess, fuel pump fuse and HT leads from the spark plugs. Tested both trailing plugs twice and when normalised to 250rpm and my altitude, got 5.7 on front 3 faces, and 6.9, 6.8, 6.8 on the 3 rear faces. Hopefully I've done everything right. Seems to have improved about .5 bar across all faces front and rear since I bought it 1000 mile ago and started premixing. Will check again around January, but looking good as long as no one on here starts poking holes in my logic!

One hole I would poke is that compression doesn't tend to go back up once it's gone down - I'd say one of tests is incorrect or it's the difference between operators and equipment.

It depends on how much carbon there is. You'd be surprised what a good Italian tune up can do for a cars health.

I absolutely ragged the French Runaround a few weeks ago and I think it now fears being treated like that again. It's been driving briliantly ever since!

It did have a slight missfire when I bought it, changed the ignition straight away and was running fine, so could be that I guess.

Today I'm taking the car over to a garage to have the ppf checked/adjusted and hopefully cure my gear issues.. Though I won't be there so I'm trusting the guy doing the work to judge what's better/worse. Checked the battery in the car which received a nice deep charge at the weekend.. It's down to 12.2V and its literally brand new.. Maybe its due to the cold weather reading however?

First ever ride out today in my new (two month old hah!) RX8 R3! feels awesome and sounds even better! Just got to get used to the clutch in lower gears compared to the old torquey diesel Peugeot I was driving before. Filled her up with a bit of vpower as a welcome home gift, still to decide if my wallet can take that long term :D (apologies for the rotated photos, I'm on mobile and I still can't figure out how to fix them) hope everyone is doing well! 8)

I don't bother with the expensive fuel. I think we might have got a bit mixed up with the word 'premium' because in the USA they have a number of octane bands, as low as 87 for regular, 88-90 midgrade and 91-94 premium.

Our regular is 95 which is higher than US premium. And our premium is 98.

I know this topic has been well and truly done to death and I have no intention of reviving it. Just saying, I don't bother with the expensive stuff and have my own logic and reasoning behind the decision.
