I hope so too. Knee injuries always take a while, but I'm sure that after 3 weeks I'll be capable if not 100%.

Alan,

You will ache for ages.
I did the same thing as Haydn, came off on an Alpine downhill course when the brakes boiled; luckily I had full armour and helmet on so nothing broken but boy oh boy the bruises; I was covered with them as I rolled down the mountain side for quite a distance. I couldn't sleep properly for 8 days.

Anyway, enough about me; get well soon and see you at Brands.

Ranjan.

..and I thought my accident sounded bad! Some armour would have been useful, although I took very little damage to my body - just a lot everywhere else. I was only wearing a single very lightweight layer and some fingerless cycling gloves. The back of my hands and my knuckles were shredded even with them being covered. I was wearing sunglasses and managed to snap the frame just next to my eye, which made a mess of the skin underneath. It's looking much better now that the graze and black eye has gone, but i expect a few small scars from that one!

For the first week I had to sleep in the one possible position that avoided putting bodyweight on the worst areas. Although I need to take a few pain killers for my knee, I'm actually sleeping pretty well now. I'm even going to bed earlier as it's more comfortable than staying up. Yes my limbs are still covered in scabs and bruises, but in a few more days, I'll finally be able to stop the daily redressing of the worst wounds. Other than the knee, nothing else hurts.

Thanks to everyone for the warm messages. It's been a tough week, with my daughter also having been in hospital for 5 days with a kidney infection. Hopefully see many of you at Brands next week.

I made the mistake of making that offer after a friend crashed his bike at Brands, "doing a hundred and plenty"

Turns out that he did need a hand as he'd broken his collarbone, and lower right arm, and was right handed which meant that he couldn't...

Without going into details lets just say that I was very relieved that he got back with his girlfriend and she was happy to play nurse. :)

Take it easy Alan.

Have you had the "We hear you've had an accident" ambulance-chaser calls yet?

Haven't updated my thread in a while. Have a few things to do, but haven't found the time. RRP COFS to fit, rear pads to do, trip to KROWN to book etc, and swap my RRP decat on after I visit Thruxton...

In the meantime, I've just bought a 335i estate for family duties. Already running 420bhp and with hybrid turbos present, it could be pushed a lot further when I choose to...

Well I'm certainty in a position to compare. The steering feel of the 8 is significantly better, but the BM has the NVH advantage. It's been a while since I had an 8 on standard suspension though.

Edit: I'll add that I've been pleasantly surprised by just how well the BMW drives as an overall package. The power delivery is amazing. Almost no lag provided it's run in sport mode, even with the uprated turbos. It's quite effortless to drive quickly in. I might end up taking it on a track day just to see what it's actually capable of.

I ran a standard 335i for while and with max torque available from 1500rpm lag just didn’t exist. Mine was the earlier one with teeny twin turbos they layer changed to a single twin scroll unit.
That’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing with that power upgrade.

Yep It's really quite unassuming. Could easily pass for a vanilla 318i in most people's eyes.

Other than the obvious engine/gearbox differences, I'd be interested in your views as to what your M3's strengths are over a 335i of the same generation. I'm not really wanting to start modding, but you know what I'm like...

Hm! E92 M3 V8 NA v E92 335i 6 cyl turbo
Both are very docile and easy to drive round town and pull well from low Revs due to the torque.
The M3 is a much firmer ride and the overall handling much more positive.
The biggest difference is the sound of the V8 from £6k upward and the speed of the gear change with the DCT box.
Post lockdown maybe we can arrange a “swapsey” day for you to experience the difference yourself.
