Removed trackday wheels/tyres and decat in readiness for this months MOT.
Got a call from Mazda Saturday, the parts for the recall work that was scheduled for Monday haven't come in, so no trip to the dealers for me.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Not started her for a good 4 days and it was not good, struggled to get her going and when she did spin sat at 300rpm with a bit of juddering and vibrating up and down to 1k then jumped up to 2,500ish drove normally, hot start went much better but still took a few cranks, looks like the new starter really helped with hot start (not perfect but okayish) but cold starting is very bad now.
Emailed Rotary Revs to see about getting a compression check / get them to look at the issue. Anyone know how long it usually takes for them to reply? or would it be better to phone them?

The new starter will be taking quite a bit more current, which puts more load on the battery and makes good battery and earth connections even more critical.Nanotrox wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:35 pmNot started her for a good 4 days and it was not good, struggled to get her going and when she did spin sat at 300rpm with a bit of juddering and vibrating up and down to 1k then jumped up to 2,500ish drove normally, hot start went much better but still took a few cranks, looks like the new starter really helped with hot start (not perfect but okayish) but cold starting is very bad now.
It would be worth removing, cleaning and tightening the battery connections, plus the main body earth.
Also check that the battery is fully charged and the electrolyte level is over the plates, in all cells.
Note that these are what makes the most difference on a cold start, as a hot start is easier on the battery.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Cheers for the advice Warp! I've done all of them bar cleaning the earth where abouts is the earth located? battery is in really good nick even got the new one tested at halfords and the report came back good, I've even changed the battery connectors as they were quiet worn. However now you've mentioned it my battery within a day seems to go down to 12.4v sometimes as low as 12.1 - 12.2 withing a couple to a few days but never goes below that, I have tested for a dark current / parasitic draw with a multimeter and pulling fuses and nothing.warpc0il wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 3:07 pmThe new starter will be taking quite a bit more current, which puts more load on the battery and makes good battery and earth connections even more critical.Nanotrox wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:35 pmNot started her for a good 4 days and it was not good, struggled to get her going and when she did spin sat at 300rpm with a bit of juddering and vibrating up and down to 1k then jumped up to 2,500ish drove normally, hot start went much better but still took a few cranks, looks like the new starter really helped with hot start (not perfect but okayish) but cold starting is very bad now.

Follow the thick cable down from the battery -ve to the earth connection.
Try switching the internal alarm sensor off, using the 4th button on the fob, just after locking the car. This reduces battery drain.

Booked the afternoon off work and was going to change my fluids and fit Autumn tyres but due to the enhanced Covid lockdown in London means there's no in household mixing after Saturday (even though the borough I live Bromley is lower than the UK average) so had to sort out my mates suspension today instead.
I recommend him JOM's earlier in the year which unfortunately weren't up to the job so got some Bilstien B12's instead.

God every time I drive through Brum I feel like it exists just so other places like Scotland or Wales can have nice views. Just focus all the drearyness in one place and it takes it away from other ones.
Good on you for enjoying yourself.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Honkytonk, the best thing about Brum is the road out of it. At least that's what we say in Coventry. Amazingly Birmingham had only been a city for just over 150 years where as Coventry had been a city for adding 750 years, something happened to Birmingham very quickly, but unfortunately it didn't receive massive remodeling in the mid 20th century unlike Coventry

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Checked battery grounds today and still no let up on the issues at hand.
Phoned Rotary Revs and she's booked in for the 60 point health check up and a compression test on the 7th, I live 130 mile away so it's worth killing two birds with one stone.
Just saying RR were really good on the phone so can't wait to get down their and hopefully find some answers.

Phil, I've got FEED center dash one if you would like to take some measurements for design. I think its best one on the market but price tag of £280 its insane. That will be great idea to try make one like that.

I would have made myself one for the centre but I have an android tablet installed in my sat Oe sat Mac holder that I like too much to get rid of.
I can have a look at making one later but right now I can only use either the racing bear style or one that pops into the drivers vent above the cluster.

As said , I have one you can copy if your stuck
I was just thinking a neat 3 gauge holder that would stick on centre of dash and follow and the contour of the dash . Not a rough cut one like I currently have
It’s only a track car so it’s no big deal
