Do RX-8 Door Lock Actuators need to have the exact part number?

Post by liamkuro »

I'm in need of getting new door lock actuators for both the passenger and drivers side door, I've checked the part number on the actuator and I see the number is A93-SPL-L (Passenger side) and A92-SPL-R (Drivers side). When I look for replacements parts they are often just titled RX-8 Left of Right Actuator, or some have a slightly different part number such as B13-SPL-R. Should I only get those which are a complete match to the ones I'm replacing despite them being visibly identical?

This is the number located on the plastic module with the wire connection.

Many thanks :thumleft:

I've not checked the numbers when I changed them and had no issues.

Not all UK cars came with same locks, and they're different to the locks fitted in the US, JDM and most European markets; all because our cars have "Thatcham Approved security"

Post/PM your VIN and I can check which locks your car was originally fitted with and which later locks are compatible.

Whats the cost of these lock actuators?

My driver's door has stopped working. Its not the end of the world as I just use the key instead but? will get it sorted at some point.

They're not all the same price. Depends on part number.
