Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Put new PZ through for an MOT today, passed only with 1 advisory which is annoying as it is the same as the one last year (underside of vehicle slightly corroded). Even though it's been undersealed a few weeks before!
Was thinking about the cruise control mod mentioned on here. Does anyone know if an R3 wheel would be compatible with my PZ? That way, I could use an R3 wheel instead of paying more for an S1 wheel with cruise control.

Yeah, I think that's what I've just seen and peaked my interest! Just don't know if it's compatible with the S1?

It should be, if mazda 6/3 cruise control steering wheels work then the r3s does too. After all its just a switch toggling a signal.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I've taken advantage of the current special on Millers Trident at Demon Tweeks - ordered 20L (4x 5L), and a couple of K&N filters (also on special), so I'm sorted for the next couple of changes at least.
I'm also going to start using it in my Ducati Monster as it's a dry clutch model, so no problem with the friction modifiers, and if Trident is good enough for hot high-revving rotaries then it should be good enough for my air-cooled low-revving (for a bike - it taps out around 8k and I daren't take it past 9k) motorbike.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Shampooed the Recaros and treated the leather.
Then replaced the rear brake pads. Had a firm brake pedal and lowered the car. Then torqued up the wheels. However my driveway is on a slope and the movement as I torqued the wheels was enough to send the car rolling backwards into the road and towards the garages on the other side.
I leapt behind it and was pretty useless at stopping myself. Thankfully the torque wrench was still attached and on one rotation dug into the road stopping the car. That was a relief.
Car (and wheel hub thread) is fine. It just broke the torque wrench. So could have been worse. Silly mistake considering I change brake pads at least twice a year

I always chock the wheels that are still on the ground, when I jack the car up, even when not on a slope, having been there when a mate pulled his car off the axle stands trying to get his exhaust undone. I can still hear the screams while we got the car of him
At least he could scream

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I got stuck behind a car at the carpark barrier at Belfast Airport last week and had to get the entire queue behind me to reverse back so we could switch lanes.
As we went passed I saw that his front plate was low on the offside, where the camera for the barrier couldn't see it.
Just noticed yours...

Took delivery of 2 Federal 595's. Unfortunately car needs 4 so hoping the other 2 aren't far behind.
Also found out that taking car tyres off rims is way harder than bikes.

See I always thought it had to be on the passenger side for legal reasons? No speed camera is going to be able to pick you up nor ANPR if they are positioned badly surely?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
After finally being pushed over the edge by a vibration around the rear shelf area on the way back from brands yesterday, I got Kim to locate the noise as the amplifier.
In order to avoid any actual effort, I cut up and wedged some craft foam into gaps between the amplifier and the shelf metal. Having taken the car out tonight, it’s finally stopped making the noise. Bliss

Glad you sorted it. Any idea why it was vibrating? It shouldn't even on full WUB WUB.Begall wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 8:52 pmAfter finally being pushed over the edge by a vibration around the rear shelf area on the way back from brands yesterday, I got Kim to locate the noise as the amplifier.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
There’s a screw missing on one of the corners that I suspect may be related. If the craft foam hadn’t sorted it I was going to fix that as my next move - will see how long this fix lasts though!New Duke wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 12:29 amGlad you sorted it. Speaking of vibration - I notice when I have the AC fan on full gets very loud (relative to the lower settings), as if it is vibrating - is that normal?

The "speed" switch is also a volume control. This is normal.
It's worth checking the cabin air filters behind the glove box, as sometimes the added noise is all the crap jumping about.
