The accelerator pedal however is not working and when it gets warm it starts auto-revving up and down.
Can I put this down to its current lack of steering wheel or potentially another issue?
This happened to me once after changing an engine
We tried a basic throttle reset , ignition on
Held it down for 10 seconds - up for 10 - back down for 10 - 5 times and it worked .
No idea where the thought came from but it worked

I had a similar issue when I replaced my coils and a PCM reset cured it. I would say though, mine was doing it whilst cold as well, so it could be similar symptoms, different cause.

Have you got a dongle plugged into the OBD port. If so unplug it and then restart the engine.

Bodge/test fitted the driver's seat from my Evroa into the RX8 and went for a 'quick' test drive... a tank of fuel later I'm 10x happier with my Rex and thinking a Tesla EV conversion is on the cards. Though I'll want a different chassis, after getting it high up on ramps I think the car's been in a queue bump rear-end collision :censored: :censored: :censored:

So plan of action
1. Get OE Ricardo seats for the Evora
2. Sell the Evora
3. Buy new RX-8 with a really solid chassis, possibly Jap import to eliminate alarm issues.
4. Buy loads of EV bits 'n bobs
5. Build a RX-8 which revs to 16'000 rpm

Does anyone know how stop the airbag/SRS light going on without the OE seats installed?

hi Steve,if the studs project 27mm from hub face,as mine did,you would need to reduce them by 7mm,or pocket the back of the wheel to accomodate the extra, hope this is clear, rob.

The SRS is looking for a specific resistance down each circuit, whether that's for the seat airbag or the seat-belt pre-tensioner.

If you remove either then fit a resistor across the connector that you unplug.
See search.php?keywords=airbag+resistor

Recently MOT'd and just advisories on two front tyres due to kerbing.

Something still wasn't right, so it went into Rotary Revs for an oil/filter change and check-up.

One drop link will need changing in the future - ok for now, sump seal is starting to bubble, will need changing - ok for now.

Biggest thing is, well priciest anyhow, differential will need replacing - ok to drive for now.

Oh and Rotary Revs have shut down for 2 weeks in response to Covid 19 pandemic.

Yesterday I loaded VR onto the trailer ready for Anglesey on Saturday. Then today Circuit Days cancelled the day.
So it’s back off with VR as I need to use the trailer next week

Due to a few days of nice weather and being out of work again (was only agency) I thought it would be the ideal time to get the waxoil out, hopefully got a good coating inside both sills front to back. May have a go at the rear subframe tomorrow and maybe fit my brand new exhaust shrouds.

As I have to stay home for the next 12 weeks I thought I'd get the decat out of the shed and clean it up! Any idea how much it would be worth? As far as I know its a racing beat duel resonated decat

Shuffled them around on the drive so I can get to all four wheels on each car and do the brakes and suspension swap over. Well once the orange paint arrives that is. May strip the TEINs whilst they are off and paint the springs green.

Figured as it's the first day of isolation for me and its sunny and not windy out. That I'd take the wheels off the 8 and have a peak under the arch liners.. However on the passenger side this has happened!

Also noticed some rust at the bottom of my passenger wing. Only surface so I should be able to save it right?

1st pic, slide a screwdriver underneath and smack the screwdriver with a hammer. it will fall apart. need a new one after, but they're not hard to find.

2nd pic, bet you thats coming from inside, be a lot worse once you start cleaning it up.

Ight I'll give the screwdriver a go tomorrow if it's nice weather James.

You think so? Completely new wing then since that one's been badly repainted before. So cleaning up that rust I'd have it repainted anyway. VR matching issues though.

Heat up a small flat blade screwdriver just enough ti melt the plastic and push it into the centre. Hold it until it cools, you can use a wet cloth or spray to speed cooling up, then just turn the driver gently et voila!
