Won a front bumper on eBay for 99p! Probably just as bad if not worse than mine but means I can bugger about with it to test some ideas out.
Anyone Southampton way that could collect it and help ferry it further north or just hold onto it untill the JDM Combe weekend?

If it fits in the 8 I will be happy to collect for you. My brain can't work out if it will or not though...Vj4sothername wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 9:51 pmWon a front bumper on eBay for 99p! Probably just as bad if not worse than mine but means I can bugger about with it to test some ideas out.

It might do... I'll do some rough measurements tomorrow. It may boil down to how far the passenger seat tilts.
Worst case it's semi flexible right

Should be able to fit a bumper with some clever moving about as you put it in. If not just cut it in half. It only cost 99p. I'm sure John likes a challenge.

Speaking of a challenge, getting the steering wheel off isn't a fun job! Sadly I failed the challenge and have pulled my back and shoulders trying. On the plus side I think I have working cruise control!

That cleaned up nicely. What did you use? My engine bay looks like the first picture and I really want to get it looking nicer.

I have been using forever black, but it really is down to the cleaner in the pack. You think you have cleaned something and then use that stuff and the dirt that comes off is astonishing. Then a wipe over with trim polish.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
My RX-8 badly needed a clean and some wax, especially after the 500 mile round trip to the Wigan meet
It was an ideal day yesterday, warm for the time of year withe no direct sunshine, which always makes the washing and waxing more difficult.
Greeted with some nice water beading this morning:

Drove the 8 with the Shoft fitted.
Initial disappointment (my fault) followed by great satisfaction.

Recalls all done at Furrows in Shrewsbury, no issues at all. The chap remembered Rob bringing in both of his two RX8s as well, said the service guys were really impressed haha.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So I really want to keep the car original, but have decided to add a few modern additions. So today I added usb charger in the back, wireless charging in the middle and moved the hands free to a better position.

That's all very neat
You might want to monitor the temperature of that wireless charger, as anything in the console can get hot from the exhaust...

Sometimes it's the only place to get exactly what you want. The floor mats I like only seem available from the dealer, so will be ordering more on Monday to collect. At least they're only £20ish. It's an excuse to get out too! (I'll save my views on social distancing for the corona thread)Yorindesarin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 6:36 pmJesus Paul. Spent hundreds today on more equipment to film segments for the club YT channel. Real work has stopped but I needed something to take the edge off.
Going to put the kids to work next week replacing the heat shielding under the car. They'll have much more room under there than me. What could possibly go wrong.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Started it up for possibly the first time this year with the intention of doing a compression test.
The accelerator pedal however is not working and when it gets warm it starts auto-revving up and down.
Can I put this down to its current lack of steering wheel or potentially another issue?
