Re: MOT FAIL
Dealers of any OEM on “may” only fit parts that are supplied by the OEM (cough) but they “can” and indeed do use on occasion aftermarket parts where those parts are from a supplier that supplies the same parts as OE to Mazda.
It’s a complex game parts supply and when in the motor parts factor business I supplied parts regularly to OEM dealers, I would add this was over 30 years ago and logistic now mean OEMs deliver daily to their dealers unlike the weekly or even monthly stock deliveries back in the day!
The above is a long way of saying the dealer will not fit loose bushes that are not OEM supply.

Re: MOT FAIL
I think someone might be confusing EPC (Mazda Electronic Parts Catalogue) with ECP (Euro Car Parts)

Re: MOT FAIL
Is there a poly Bush available for the RX8 S1 and R3.
https://www.powerflex.co.uk/products/RX ... 318/1.html
You will need to check the original part numbers on the Mazda bushes to make sure they are the same.

Re: MOT FAIL
Went back down today and they said “yes the bushes are available but they’ve seen mechanics take hours and hours trying to fit them so they say it’s easier to replace the whole arm”
Also, when I returned I found that the car is now leaking oil...

Re: MOT FAIL
30 minutes max to change each Bush
Providing them come out easy
That 2 hours at the dealer rate
Not really much difference in price.
Edit
On top of price to remove and fit arms.

Re: MOT FAIL
They’re already charging a couple of hours the replace the arms anyway.
Re the oil leak that’s now appeared they’ve said “it’s a coincidence, an MOT is a visual inspection only”

Re: MOT FAIL
Crikey that's a lot of oil if that's just one day. I'd hope it's not and just hadn't been noticed before.
Sorry if this is obvious, but be sure to watch your oil level like a frakking hawk until it's fixed.
If only RRP's new billet sump was R3 compatible.
EDIT: I like how their reasoning for replacing the whole arm is that their mechanics suck. Gotta laugh.

Re: MOT FAIL
Maybe an interim solution for the R3's would be a billet bottom section (as the original is Steel), we can provide a reconditioned sump with billet bottom section on an exchange basis, if the numbers were right we could make this happen.New Duke wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 12:29 pmCrikey that's a lot of oil if that's just one day. Re: MOT FAIL
If RR can't do the work quickly (they have been known to be slow) then it could be well worth making the trip to bigpete near Boston or RRP in Rugby.
They're both specialists that will care about you and worth the drive time.

Might be worth a thread to gauge interest, like with the indicators.Ryan Rotary Performance wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 12:36 pmMaybe an interim solution for the R3's would be a billet bottom section (as the original is Steel), we can provide a reconditioned sump with billet bottom section on an exchange basis, if the numbers were right we could make this happen.

Re: MOT FAIL
I do find RR are usually slow to even get back to me/not at all if I ask for quotes on work but Rugby is bloody far from Newcastle (where I’m currently living) and chances are it’ll need leaving a day or two

The dealer probably doesn't want the work, which is why they're giving you an outrageous estimate.Alexpb2401 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 12:15 pmWent back down today and they said “yes the bushes are available but they’ve seen mechanics take hours and hours trying to fit them so they say it’s easier to replace the whole arm”
They would much rather do warranty jobs on nearly new cars that don't have rusty bolts underneath, that could turn into a nightmare if they get too hamfisted.

Re: MOT FAIL
seeing as the MOT advises on the rear bushes as well, is it worth poly bushing the whole thing or still replacing the arms? Are poly bushes less labour intensive than the Mazda ones?

Re: MOT FAIL
Rotary Revs had a look over it today.
Bushings and arms are absolutely fine, not even an advisory, never mind a fail.
New oil sump for the leak and that’s it
I’ll be writing to Mazda and looking to claim the MOT fee back through credit card company

That is good news
Appeal straight to VOSA.
This way it stays on the garage record.
They will also get frequent random checks.

Re: MOT FAIL
Picked up from Rotary Revs Today. New Oil sump and Oil filter with 60 point inspection (recommended replacement drop links in future but fine for now). Took to 'Jed's Garage' around the corner on RR recommendation and sailed through the MOT. No mention of bushes or suspension arms.
The guys at Rotary Revs have been superb, provided me with pics of the bushes to complain to Mazda and kept me updated!
Now to ring Mazda back and supply them with the pictures
