wont match if you order it by paint code. if your not spraying a entire car i recommend getting it custom matched at a paint shop.

Yes James I know.
Whilst talking to my mate who has 35 years experience says because there’s no variants of the paint code you’ll be very lucky if your able to match it by altering the code. It’ll go from close to way out within a drip of another colour going in. Image

I don't understand why there wouldn't be variants as the color will change depending on the medium it's applied to. So there's gotta be variations?

I've just spoken to my mate about it and yeah the code may not have variants but that's only "out if the box"
A skilled paint shop will be able to create variants and match mix it there. He recommended a place called Spraywell in Dudley

We looked at the three chips against a panel I took with me and all three chips were a mismatch in a range of different lighting
So I went with the middle chip
Fortunately it’s not a panel I’m having painted so there’s no real concern for a precise match

If you were painting something like an engine cover, then the out-of-the box should be a good enough match.
For a spoiler, mounted on non-painted uprights, you might get away with it.
For a bumper or body panel you need an exact match.

That said, one member took his fuel filler flap in to get matched, as he was painting the front bumper, only to find that the front and rear of his car were 2-3 shades different.

When challenged on this he parked his next to another VR at a meet.
Parked nose-nose they matched, but parked nose-tail they didn't.

My passenger wing has been painted badly at some point (low clear coat and its really noticeable) I'm not even sure if its worth trying to get it sorted...

The biggest issue with VR is metallic medium as well as the red colour coat and originally it’s a three stage process of base coat (not primer) middle coat and then clear coat.
I cannot find the supplier which does the 3 rattle can set which is annoying as I have used them fir my aero kit and the match was excellent.
