I will be filling up at the Shell station just down the road which will be the moment of truth for the seals.

As qwakers pointed out,i had a leaky front strut,so swapped that out today with a spare i had. also found the reason for the knocking i talked about, both lower strut bolts were loose,so that is now sorted. i am considering a pz suspension upgrade,so,what differences will i notice?,bearing in mind i am no race driver, thanks, rob.

When I got my PZ and I got the Prodrive track day, they wouldn't allow standard RX8's on the track on the same day. The instructor said the car with the PZ setup takes each corner at least 15mph faster than the original.

I've only ever driven a standard one on a test drive probably around 14 years ago nowI , and I remember the PZ did feel better. I did replace mine recently for a new set of PZ springs and shocks and it's driving beautifully again, but perhaps someone who actually upgraded would be able to give you a better idea.

There is a significant difference on a race circuit but can’t comment on the road sorry

Re PZ suspension- I regularly drive a bumpy but quick route of quiet lanes, the way a PZ soaks up the bumps compared to stock suspension is far superior.
The other noticeable difference between the two for me is when you are starting to turn in to a corner, the PZ feels more balanced and ready to turn in.

+1 to Nickp47's post, it's more comfortable on bumpy roads than stock from what I remember from test driving stock 8's when I was looking for mine, AND it turns in much nicer.

Grips like Velcro covered in glue too. Turns out those prodrive boys knew what they were doing. ;)

Popped to a local car show ultimate stance in Telford with some friends who run a car club. Had a nice morning and it was great turning out of bed and only having a 15 minute drive to the location. Lots of cars with air ride etc and plenty of poppy bangy things.

The ProDrive Track Days were held on the then ProDrive site where they had a special circuit for Subaru rally car development and whilst some sections were new and smooth most was original runway surface so not billiard table track quality at all. With 1500 miles only on the clock it was a bit scary to throw ones £25k car around!

I changed recently but that was from the standard R3 suspension, so that won't help you either as they're similar!

The PZ suspension in the group buy was a mega bargain, less so if bought from the club shop. But it's still the best bet if you're looking for great road suspension at the best value for the 8.

Track is another matter but it sounds like you're not building a track weapon.

Most original shocks are probably getting tired and due replacement with new by now anyway. I have no idea how much new S1 'sports' suspension costs but I'd be surprised if it's much less than a PZ set from the club shop.

So it's more a discussion about what you would like your suspension to do differently first and then we can give more tailored feedback on if the PZ suspension will address that.

As has been stated above RE the PZ suspension to be honest. I've driven all flavours of stock Rx suspension (admittedly none in 'brand new' condition) and the PZ does handle well. My only thoughts are that you'd be spending more money on the PZ suspension than you would on coilovers. A well set up set of coilies could provide what you're after - but as New Duke has said, it depends entirely on what it is that you're after as to whether this is a better option or not.

I got 10% off at Black Circles...... I was on Pirelli P-Zeros but run flats were a bit firm (also didn't help not having TPMS, think i was running flat for about a week or so  )

LOL, I've never run run-flats. I guess that's what they are for !!

Michelin are doing a deal at the moment where you get cashback if you purchase the tyres from an affiliated supplier. Not sure BlackCircles is in the list, but I was eligible to get £100 back for getting 4 19inch pilot sport 4 SUV tyres for my other car.

I upgraded recently from stock to the PZ suspension. I'm no racing driver and thought it would feel a bit stiffer but didn't think I would really notice much difference. I was wrong, it is very noticeably better in pretty much every way (and I was always very happy with the original suspension apart from when I had broken springs - and I didn't always notice that had happened for a while).
The PZ suspension rides the bumps and potholes better, of course you can still feel them but it doesn't seem to hit them as hard. In corners there is a lot less body roll for a start, but it really does feel like it is gripping the road better - I'm sure I am taking corners I was familiar with taking quickly even quicker, or even if I'm taking them at the same speed it feels even more settled and like I could go a lot quicker if I wanted.

I thought we were charging the same (maybe plus the difference in postage of course) as was paid in the group buy? I know making a profit was not an intention.

EDIT: price corrected a few posts below
Nah Shaggy the group buy cost for the whole set was £552 delivered. The club shop price is £995 plus £47 delivery. Quite a mark up.

But I think the club price is fair for the product. They cost more than a cheap set of coilovers, but I'd bet good money that the PZ ones are built better. Not to mention the benefit of dual rate springs.

When looking into this a year ago the cheapest alternative coilover setup that was 'better' than the PZ kit (across the criteria that I needed) was nearly £2k. There's a common belief that coilovers are always better but you really get what you pay for. Cheap coilovers are just that!

The shop price to none members is indeed higher. But that makes sense doesn't it really? To members its 595 after a year of being in the club if memory serves.

Ahhhhhhhh. That makes sense. Found it now that you said that. There's a link to a forum post if you scroll to the bottom of the shop listing. Might make sense to have the member price clear on the product page?

£595 is totally a bargain. Unless someone is building a track focused car, why replace the original suspension with anything else.

We deliberately chose to do it this way. We wanted to make sure that only proper full members, with a reasonable length of service, had access to the member price. There are limitations on how sophisticated we can make the shop pricing structure, and this was the easiest way to ensure that the members get a great price, and the stock doesn't get hoovered up and sold on ebay by non-members

Depends on the insurer, but when I tried for an agreed value insurance policy they said it wouldn't affect the premium - the way they explained it is that it's basically haggling on the value of the car upfront rather than in the event of a write off.

That said, aforementioned insurer said that the R3 wasn't entitled to an agree value policy, whereas a series 1 would... Despite mine being heavily modified and there only being ~500 R3s left on the road :x
