Passenger side speaker vibration

Post by Jeags »

Hi all,

Noticed a fairly loud vibration coming from the passenger side speaker in the door card. Only happens when the bass is a bit louder but I took it off yesterday to see if it was anything loose and couldn't find anything when disconnected. Any ideas or should I just try and find a replacement?

Cheers.

Check the speaker itself

Yeah, have taken it off and thought it may be a tear in the actual speaker itself but it isn't so I'm a bit stumbled. It's got a metal cover over half of it which I could take off but I didn't want to disassemble it too much as I'd rather have a working vibrating one than none at all.

I'll get some footage of my driver's side doing what I think might be a similar thing tomorrow when it's not pouring it down. Be interested if it is the same as I believe mine might be a ripped cone.

Mine has been doing the same thing for a couple of months, on the passenger side, and only at specific frequencies. These issues are normally fixed with a new(er) speaker unless there is something loose. I think there are probably quite a few spares lurking around at least.

You could possibly test it in situ with the door card removed and connectors attached.

If you use Bluetooth then you can find test frequencies or download and burn a CD to playback continuously on a loop.
Find the frequency that resonates the most and then look around to find put what is vibrating. Don't play it too loud and make sure you are panned fully to the left and reader to the front to minimise speaker damage in any others
