Re: Engine swap
Just one thing tho, over the years there have been several people who have joined the forum with big plans to fit X motor into an RX8. Most of them seem to fizzle out half way through.
Not trying to put you off, but engine swaps usually end up being considerably more work/money than most people expect.

Re: Engine swap
Putting a different motor in can drastically change the characteristics of the car. Take an inline 6 like an RB25/26. The weight distribution in the car is shifted entirely over the front axle. Great for a straight line. But completely kills handling corners pretty much. Alot of americans like shoving LS' into it but they do that with everything they can because why not I guess. Can't imagine much of the 8s characteristics are left after that either.

Re: Engine swap
Mx5 nc front sub frame swaps straight in. Gives you the choice to run a mzr/duratec engine. Sits behind the front wheels near enough.

Re: Engine swap
Agreed
I've been involved in a few engine swaps in my time and its amazing how quickly the costs add up as things like exhaust manifolds that have to be made , engine mounts, cooling system
getting the old steering column to go past the new / bigger engine
then if you should want things like the DSC and climate to work its possible these days to have CAN stream emulators etc to so the mazda systems are all happy
but its not the work of a moment and I'd expect a good engine swap to something that suits the car , like a 9,000rpm 300 bhp 4 pot will set you back about 12 K.....
best option is to go supercharged I'd say
