PHOENIX RISING!

Post by VelocityVinnie »

I have had more come backs than Take That!

But this time, im really staying!

Those that know me, know i have been an 8 owner for quite some time, i bought my car in 2009, and was one of the first owners within the UK to really go to town with modifications. My car was quite well know within this community, and was featured in a few Jap car mags.

However my car has been off the road since 2016, due to working abroad, only to find that when i returned in 2018, my car had been hit badly with servere rust, and it was heart braking, with the amount of time, sweat, and quite a bit of money that was put into my pride and joy.

It was looking at the time that maybe this was the end for the car, as the work needed to get it back on the road was too much for me to handle with my busy work load, plus already funding two other vehicles.

So she went into storage, gathering green stuff, more rust and a boot full of water.

I then thought after all the time i had the car, and the amount of effort i had put into her, i could not let her totaly die.

SO!

In the last few weeks plans have been made to get her back on the road.

My car has done 65k since new, still on its original engine. Shes not been run for nearly 4 years!!, so i charged up the battery, cleaned off the dirt, stuck some petrol in, then bit my lip whilst i attempted to turn the key.

The old girl FIRED on first turn, no struggle, no long crank, just burst into life with a roar, and soon settled down to the purr i have missed.

brakes took a little time to free off, but she moved! took her for a little drive around the private estate shes parked on, and she felt as tight and responsive as the last time i drove her.

So with all this being possitive, it was time to think about howing to fix her aging body.

With the shear amount of welding needed, the best and only way to bring her back is to 'Re Shell' her.

This is where the next chapter starts. BigPete has kindly offered to store my car at Boston Rotary, and i think has already sourced me a new shell, so although it wont be 100% the same car when she returns, she will still have the same heart, and all mods transferd.

I will be signing back upto the club in due course, and will continue where i left off, on my Personal Project thread.

For those that are new here, Hello, and to old friends, i missed you ;) (Nigel will be happy im back   )

My personal project thread is under 'VelocityVinnies, Road going rocket racer'

I will post updates as and when.
