I've already broken the news gently to the missus about the Roadtax, and as a gentleman I even helped her up off the floor!! :D

As for petrol, i'm aware that the fuel cost will go up from what I have now, but I spend so much time driving that to me, it's the driving experience that's more important, and i'm really trying to justify the extra cost here aren't I? lol

If you are on Facebook consider contacting Luke Murdoch as he would be willing to look at your choice of RX-8 on your behalf to check if it's OK before you go along to buy it =D> =D> =D> =D>

Murdoch's Rotary Specialist
Hiya Beast, thanks for that. I've had a look, and i'm quite a ways north of Luke, so not sure he'll want to travel so far north. once I've seen one though, I may well get in touch anyway. Thanks again! :D

Having had three of the things you'll love driving it and they're great cars. However, you will have to accept that despite what some people will tell you there is a higher risk of something going wrong with these cars and sometimes it will be terminal. Go in with your eyes open, don't buy an unknown car because it's local and/or cheap and be aware of the potential costs. I'm aware that this advice is the same for many cars but imo with these the risks are higher.

Hi Dern, cheers! i'm trying to be a bit objective, but I've already fallen in love with the RX-8 so i'm almost certainly going to get one! I hear what you say about the cheap/ local comment... it's too easy to fall into that trap when buying used cars isn't it? It would be handier if it was more local, lol.. but i'm casting a reasonably large net. Fingers crossed I pick a winner!

Hi Pete, thanks for that - it really does look nice! I've added it to saved list. Once the Mondeo has sold, I can look in earnest... and that would be a good place to start! like that blue, too!

Ive messaged asking who did the re-build, wether they had done a recent compression test (which might have been a bit daft given the first point!) and if there was any rust anywhere. Waiting to hear back.

My daily drive to work is about 16 miles. A mix of A roads, sometimes dual carriageways and a bit of urban stuff. I'm getting around 220 miles from a tank of premium in my S1 231. Speaking of which I'm open to offers on it, if you're interested? I'm based in Newport Pagnell so don't know how that fits with you're location, but PM me and I can fill you in about the car and why I'm thinking of parting with it.

Hi Northerner69, thanks for that info. I've sent you a couple of PM's but they are stuck in my outbox!

Don't worry, PMs remain in your outbox until the recipient opens them.

They are OK. The engine should be good.

Cheers Pete! I've messaged the guy a couple of times, and he seems sound too.
