Topped up the SOHN 2 stroke after the return drive to Donnington. Changing gear at 4 to 4500rpm cruising at 4000rpm (70mph) with 245/35x18s so no full throttle or high revs to have the ECU increase the OMP feed rate yet the top up was 250ml for the 180 mile trip.
Is this excessive or expected for the supercharged engine?

1/4 litre after that mileage seems excessive, but I have no frame of reference for an FI engine.

Maybe get MazdaEdit hooked up,and see if the OMP's been 'overclocked' ;) :?:

Replaced the expansion/ reservoir water bottle with one from other car. the level sensor issue.
all around sport disk brake&pads changed which one the back disks having very bad crack and front left is over engaged :(((
new coil packs fitted and finally can hearing the engine working smoothly for first time despite a tiny random miss fire
which hidden to ecu and untrained ears.... needs oscilloscope.

Have you checked with your insurer regarding opening the box and altering the wiring? Doing so may actually be classed as tampering with the unit and thus make your insurance invalid. The unit is probably designed to activate when the ignition is turned on and will switch off automatically when the ignition is switched off. Thus it is active when you are driving and on standby when your not driving. When driving it probably logs your location, speed, acceleration G, cornering G and braking G thus tracking your driving style versus parameters set by the insurance company.
The above are all assumptions but worth checking because if you do have an accident, or someone drives into you then you don't want to find out then that your insurance is invalid.
Also does the unit actually transmit any data directly to the insurers?

That says rechargeable, as in battery powered, so surely it doesn't need an always on power supply as it will charge up when you're driving? Or have I missed something?

Also, this is the page of their website, you're supposed to return the box after - so I'm fairly sure they wouldn't approve of any modifications to the device...

Drove it :) Awesome machine, forgotten how good they are. Quick q on temps. Now its a hot day and going around town, was getting 90-95c on the water temp and 80-85c on the oil temps. Take they're ok?

Those temps are perfectly within range.

Today's plans for me, log a drive to get data on this weird rev issue that now includes over revving when going up the gears.. Change into 5th from 4th press throttle lightly pings to 5k rpm then drops to 4k.. Really odd. Since its a nice day I'm also going to compression test it if I can get the eccentric shaft sensor unplugged!

I was actually considering that the other day. And it might just make sense? Would be kinda nice if it was that even though I cant really afford a new clutch right this second... Id rather that than an engine issue though... At least then I could also sort the gearbox up to a standard Im happy with.

Quite simply, if you have an accident and 'your' car is at home based on their black box then your insurance will be revoked. Best case means you wouldn't get paid out on your insurance if you make a claim, worst case means you are liable for the amount of damage caused to a third party (vehicles, personal injuries etc.) and the police add insurance fraud and driving without insurance to the list of potential conversation topics ;)

I'm obviously describing the worst case scenarios, but to summarise, what you've suggested is both illegal and dangerous.

(Yes, I know some people break the law with cars - no front plate, running a decat etc. - but if you're going to that much effort to reduce your insurance costs, you may as well go the full hog and not insure your car... Which I 100% do not recommend or endorse, obviously.)

Oh? The tester says to undo the eshaft sensor as well as pull the fuel pump fuse. I feel lied to in every way. But good to know for when I do actually go and retest the compression... Decided not to do it in the end today and ended up going for a small fun drive with someone else in the car before letting them have a go to see if they could see the rev behaviour I've been having. No dice though.

Yes I started with it being fraudulent. ;)
And wasn't actually suggesting anyone should do it.

I'm lucky enough (and old enough 🙄) not to require telematics....

you need to pull the e shaft sensor too or you get weird results (certainly on the testers bought in the group buy)

It should be sufficient just to floor the accelerator while performing the compression test, as this triggers "deflood mode" cutting both fuel and sparks, which it certainty does on my '04.

Others have suggested that the ignition still fires in deflood mode on their car, but no one has reported the results of an actual test - just "I think..."
It does require an assistant to press the accelerator but it's waaay easier than messing about with the ESS connector.
