26B Variable length intake tubes
Picking this up from another thread that showed the variable length intake ports on the 26B engine.
They maybe applicable to my PP engine, lot of work required though!
My car has a plenum chamber with the injectors squirting into it so where is the crucial length of runner that you would vary?
a) Between plenum and chamber?
b) from throttle butterfly to plenum?
c) from throttle butterfly to chamber?
d) All the way from airfilter box (no filters on 26B?) to chamer?

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
It will be the length of the inlet 'port' you need to vary
so the length of the pipe of pipe that runs into your plenum I'd say
can you pop up an image showing the design of your intake?

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
It's the port length you need to alter, I'm trying to find my other photo's with the airbox off but basically on this:
The ports you see there have a sleeve going down the inside, with the trumpets on the end, the linear actuator you can just about see in the middle extends them further into the airbox to lengthen the inlet tract at lower rpms, there's about 6" of adjustment.

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
that s pretty cool
what management system do you use ?
got a power curve you'd care to share?

Matt, you need to get a read of the thread. It's basically all kinds of awesome.

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
That's a friends, not mine, I only made the brake discs and the diff
It's just north of 400bhp on a Pectel
That thread of mine is way out of date, can't update it as non-member peasant

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
That exhaust has got to be mental , definitely would not pass a noise test at any track I know of unless there is more of it out of shot.
Now a distant memory unfortunately.

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
There's a single straight through silencer sat over the diff out of the back. But it's still not quiet
I've got a photo of the mechanism but damned if I can find it.

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
ok do you have a copy of a power curve? as the pipe to very the length of is the little stub that joins the plenum to the rest of the engine
are there any trumpets inside the plenum?
plus the plenum volume looks a little on the small side
a good rule of thumb is 1.5 x engine capacity ( now depending on how big a renesis is....)

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
No power curve as of yet and I don’t think there are any trumpets in the plenum.

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
Just some trumpets (stood proud inside and clearing the plenum walls to get away from the slow moving boundary layer) will pick up some power if it doesn't have any in there.

Re: 26B Variable length intake tubes
agreed
this mob sell all sorts of shapes
https://store.jenvey.co.uk/throttle-bod ... /air-horns
ideally buy a couple of lengths so you can experiment
