Recall + MOT
I’ve owned my 05 Rex since June and recently had a recall on 4 parts:
airbags o/s n/s
fuel pump
gasket seal in fuel tank
Do these all sound correct? Leamington Mazda have agreed to do all 4 in a day + MOT which is 2 months overdue.
Do you think pre-mix fuel will cause any issues with emissions on the MOT (it has a new Sports Cat exhaust mid pipe fitted)? They have asked for a 1/2 to 1/3 full tank the day I bring it in?

If Mazda are doing the mot then I think the sports cat may be an issue

Re: Recall + MOT
:whathesaid" Many Mazda dealers will check that the cat is type approved as well as the exhaust emissions.
There are no "sports cats" that are type approved (afaik) and the only cat that dealers will be looking for is the OEM.

..and what Dave he said about Club membership, to get the best out of the Club you need to be a full member.. you are restricted to only certain topics as a guest.. most of what you are likely to need is in the Members section only, so it makes real sense and it won't break your bank

Re: Recall + MOT
I see mine has a recall outstanding, Had the fuel pump seals and an airbag one done a while ago, so guess this is passenger air bag. My local dealer is good so will have to get it booked in. Also must get round to full membership.

Re: Recall + MOT
Well good news is i spoke to the dealer and they have assured me the MOT will only be based on the emissions results and they don't care about the type or manufacturer of the parts. So fingers crossed they stick to their word and it passes

Re: Recall + MOT
I am excited to take mine in for the airbag recall. It's running a HYOWGE bit of porting and idles at 2,000 rpm.
Asked if they'd send me the parts but they said no and that I'd have to take it to them for the work to be done.
This is going to be exciting.

Re: Recall + MOT
Outstanding recalls could soon be included as MOT fails
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/ ... ty-recalls
I've still got drivers airbag outstanding as I'm using the one that came from my old car that already had the recall.

Re: Recall + MOT
One advantage of the NI Devolved Government not sitting for over two years, and no sign of them fixing that this year, is that there's no legislation going through the system, so even if England decides to make changes to the MOT regulations to include recalls, we won't have to worry about it.
The downside of the NI Devolved Government not sitting for over two years, and no sign of them fixing that this year, is that there's no legislation going through the system, so that changes that England have already made to their MOT system, such as exception for classic cars, hasn't been ratified here. So my '68 Alfa still needs an MOT here, even though it would be exempt in England.
Can someone please explain why MOT regulations should have been split to devolved governments in the first place... unless of course they're seen as revenue sources
Oh, and while I'm on my soapbox, why does the National TV News (BBC, ITV, Sky,...) run stories about "The NHS", which only apply to NHS England, as if the NHS was still a single UK-wide service? For those that don't know, NHS Scotland, NHS Wales and NHS Northern Ireland are all separate from NHS England.

Re: Recall + MOT
That is poop cause I'm struggling to put my car into the dealers for the air bags as they are crap and wouldn't even trust them with Dan's car!!! Its totally stupid I know but would have to stand or sit and watch them, but that's totally unfair too as the person could be totally 1st class and to have a bell end watching would rude, but simply don't trust them!!!!!!

Re: Recall + MOT
Daz.. 25 minutes is about right, unless of course your car is in a queue to be seen .. they have quoted a stupid timescale.. sounds as though they don't know what's entailed.. I'd change to another Madza dealer m8

Re: Recall + MOT
As Acegeezer said I suspect you get a vague slot but likely have to fit in around other cars. Recalls are generally not dealt with in the same priority as services etc.. didn’t even get a complimentary wash

Re: Recall + MOT
I wouldn't get excited about putting it in for the airbag recall but if its the fuel pump recall then that would be a reason for concern as yours is uprated isn't it?Dr. FrankenRex wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 5:01 pmI am excited to take mine in for the airbag recall. Mine has an uprated pump in it and talking to Mazda locally then they say they would probably just replace the top seals and would not do any additional work on the pump body and its filter system. I have so far waited a week for confirmation this is agreed with Mazda.
