Thank you for shouting so loud Mark
It's quite obvious that I can't set a date until the page at Rotary Revs is activated.
It's touching that a couple of people are concerned but please remember this is a group buy for the people concerned.

I definitely wasn't shouting otherwise I would have kept the caps lock on! :thumright:

Obviously, an end date would be a good idea once the page is activated at RR

Although, this is a group buy for the people concerned, it is also on a club forum whereby club members also have access to it and are free to comment :thumright:

And the reason I'm not on the list, is because I do not think it is the best thing out there since sliced bread and as Ben has mentioned already there are many other options available out there too.

I'm sure it will all sort it self out in the end =D>

I'd like to thank everyone for all the messages of support along the way with what will be the clubs most ambitious group buy which will benefit many of the members.
I have received literally hundreds of PM's of support, some from people who are not involved but appreciate the effort that has gone into this and just want to show there support for this and the club.
When things look a bit rough I just read some of them again :)
This is the only car club I have ever been in but what a fantastic club it is :thumleft: Long live the RX-8 Oc
Thank you all we really are almost there. I will ring Ben tomorrow.
All the Best

I was chatting with Ben about all this today, when I collected my car. Frankly I'm amazed, impressed and grateful to everyone who has put so much work into this. Apart from all the time and effort from Pete, Nick, et al, this shows a huge commitment to the club from Ben and Rotary Revs. =D>

I am considering fitting these myself, with the assistance of a friend who works in a garage. (Well, *I'd* be the assistant...) He's not an RX-8 specialist, but videos online suggested that replacing shocks and springs isn't a tricky task. If so:

1) It was advised in the other thread to "trim" the front bump stop from 70mm to 50mm if changing from stock to PZ. I have perfectly functional suspension which I intend to store carefully in case I ever have cause to change back. Are these shorter bump stops available so that I don't need to do anything destructive when fitting the new suspension?

2) It was advised in this thread that the "suspension geometry" might need adjusting, or "full wheel alignment" might need to be performed. Are these standard operations that a good mechanic should be able to tackle?

General advice welcome!

I fitted some rears on mine recently - no specialist knowledge required although a 17mm ratchet type spanner would have been very useful. If you have access to a ramp that also makes life a whole lot easier.

1. Can't advise on that

2. My Local garage has a 4 way laser geometry thingy that they use to check and set up the geometry on my car. Most TYre places can also do it as well. Just need the right kit.

I could probably even do a quick video of fitting suspension to an 8 depending on what time I have available on Thursday/Friday next week.

Still getting you to fit mine please. ;)

The head broke off my 10mm ratchet spanner yesterday and fell into the EGR cooler pipe on my diesel where it now lives. No way should muppets like me be allowed to fit our own suspension.

Firstly may I thank everyone that has been involved with this group buy, it has taken such a lot time and effort to put it all together.

Ben as a small trader myself I totally agree with you. This group buy has the ability to bankrupt a small company if it goes pear shaped.

Therefore I am more than happy to bank transfer the full amount into your account.

Many thanks to all involved.

I'd just like to clarify a point raised earlier regarding the involvement, or lack of, of the club shop.

The committee was asked whether the club could effectively "host" this group buy back a couple of years ago. At the time, details were scarce, however we had provisionally agreed to take payments through the club shop and were working out logistics, how to deal with the £20 per order Paypal fees the club would have been charged, just how many orders/deposits would have to be taken before the club could afford the liability for any unpaid orders and so on. It is important to remember that one of our primary roles as committee members is to ensure that the club is not exposed to undue risk, and as the buy grew exponentially in size we felt that the potential risk in becoming so deeply involved in a process like this carried significant risk to the club. Given that an alternative option has been in place for quite some time, I am somewhat surprised that this has been mentioned now.

As I recall, the events go something like this; In the beginning this was raised as a GB for a limited quantity of PZ springs. The total cost of the buy would have been in the order of £3000, and the Committee was broadly in agreement with the plan, and broadly in agreement with the idea that this could be handled by the Club, and through the shop. As time went on the GB rapidly expanded. The GB became a huge undertaking to purchase at least 50 complete PZ suspension units, at a total cost exceeding £30k. This is far more than the Club's reserves and, as a result, the Committee took the view that it would need to be handled carefully, with due diligence, and in such a way that the Club was protected from this liability. While the Committee was discussing the full implications, and planning a route forward, It was announced on the forum (not to the Committee) that the plan was to run the GB via RR. This instantly removed any concerns the Committee had about the risk to the Club, and was therefore met with some relief by the Committee. To confirm, at no point did the Committee ever say that it would not support the GB, or that it would not make the Club's facilities (Shop, storage, etc.) available.

In addition, the club has provided support in this buy where we felt we could (i.e contacting the membership regarding the matter). As a slight aside, the Committee did send back a series of questions a little while back via PeteH, but have not received a response to date.

Please feel free to contact any one of the Committee if you wish to discuss further.

Thanks all, carry on :)

.........................UPDATE......................

I have just spoken to Ben on the phone.
The PZ suspension item should be in the club shop later today or tomorrow.
We will be removing the 50% option to make this work easier for Ben (Details of payment options top of page 20 ).
I will update first post, first page when it goes live with a link to the Rotary Revs item.
I won't have access to Ben's records so please post in the thread when you have paid and it will be marked against your name.

It's not to late for anyone else to join the buy if they wish to do so.

People who opted for 50/50 payments please contact me confirming your OK with one of the other payment options
Thank you all
Pete

PS: Please address questions to me, ( Don't bother Ben )

Thanks Pete and Ben, for all your hard work.

Quick question on Balance Transfer - What's most suitable reference on the transfer to help Ben identify us ? Forum-name ? Actual name ? Some thing else ?

Thanks,

Vinod

What a really strange, totally unnecessary post.
“We the committee who couldn’t make up our minds what to do are quite relieved that somebody else came forward to support this so we didn’t have to make a decision but now it has happened feel the need to post up and defend our position as unable to make a decision even though no one was questioning our inability to make a decision” “I’m glad we made a decision on that and we can agree not to do anything”
Weird.

ISTM that Dan, as he says in his first sentence, is clarifying and explaining the committee's situation and actions, for those who wished to know.

Hi guys

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to pull out of my commitment.
I'm faced with some financial issues that I have to sort out.
My Mazda and towing dolly will be up for sale soon.

So please remove me from the list.

I'm sorry for letting you guys down.

Hi guy's,

Right lets get started.

We have heard from 10 of the 22 people wanting to pay in 2 halfs but are happy to pay in full :) which gets us upto most of the required 50. To save everyone waiting for the rest I am making payments available to people.

Note: because we are doing it this way and taking payment in full upfront, in the event that we do not meet the required number of orders I will be able to refund everyone in full. This will be a refund in full bar card machine transaction fees for those who wish to pay by card over the phone (if you can help it please use the balance transfer option to save fee's)

So options:

By far the best option is payment via balance transfer. My banking does not charge me a transaction fee for online deposits. Having most of the transactions come through this way will also make it easier for me to keep an eye on payments and keep track :)

Balance transfer
Reference - please use your real name as the reference as this is the first bit of info on my spread sheet
Sort code: 40-24-32
account number: 71492934
Bank: HSBC
Receiver: Rotary Revs

Amount to deposit
PZ Suspension set.................£552
PZ Eibach spring set..............£210
Set posted to N. Ireland........£565

Paypal
To use paypal please pay through our online store. I have created a new GROUP BUY section on the online store specifically for this - you can find the relevant items listed in there. Note: I will refund anyone who pays but whose name is not on the list. Please contact Pete to have your names added to the list if it isnt already :)

Please also select 'local collection' at checkout so that the website doesn't charge you postage from me to you :)

Amount to pay (I think this is right but if it changes when the first transaction comes through I will update everyone :) )
PZ Suspension set.................£574.08
PZ Eibach spring set..............£218.40
Set posted to N. Ireland........£587.60

Finance
Same as above, select finance option at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions
Same as above but I might end up with a bit of money left over, if this is the case I will refund the difference

Card payment over the phone.
This one is going to be a slightly bit more tricky as I am in and out. I think the best thing would be to call us, leave your name and number with whoever answers and I'll dedicate some time to calling people back in the early part of next week :) Hope thats ok?

Debit card
PZ Suspension set.................£553.50
PZ Eibach spring set..............£211.50

For those clubmembers buying through the website, can I trust you to not use your 5% discount code at checkout ;)

Think that coveres everything? If I have missed anything then please let us know by posting on here and send Pete a telling off haha :D
