No reason why not mate, second hand prices will be really strong by then! You could pick up a 2-year-old car for pretty much half its initial value.
To Do List: HKS CAMP2 install; cruise control; new exhaust; detail paintwork, possible respray

Done: Hayward Rotary rebuild and stage 2 port; Racing Beat ARBs, adjustable front droplinks, ram air intake and lightened flywheel; Exedy stage 1 clutch; Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs; Koyo radiator; heated front screen; EBC redstuff pads all round

If they do an ES-F then that's your weapon of choice matey. Might take them a couple of years to introduce it, but if the other F cars that Lexus do are anything to go by, it would be a blinder.

GSB-TDU // New Car 2020 or 2021

Post by GreySilver Beast » Sat Mar 31, 2018 2:59 pm

Can't get it now as don't have the money at the moment for a New Car Mark :(

Didn't like the Golf R when I test drove it back in 2016 :!:

The New Volvo S60 and New Lexus ES are not out yet, so only the Kia is of great interest to me at the moment :P

Nothing else pops out at present..............and more than likely it will be Brand New as in some cases it's cheaper to buy a Brand New Car instead of a Demonstrator or Pre-Reg Car :!:

Nigel, Nigel, Nigel. We really must get you off this new car thing. There are only two good reasons in my mind to buy a new car: to have one of the first ones on the road in this country (fair enough) or to spec it up to your own exact desire. The latter is ruled moot by you, since you could never own a car without modifying it, which means you make it your own once you've bought it. Buying used means you increase the budget for mods right off the bat, and by buying new you lose most of your investment in 5 years to depreciation. Makes no sense my friend!

I've had this conversation with Nigel a couple of times now but there's no persuading him.New cars are an absolute waste of money unless like you say you want to spec it up to you're taste but even at that I'm pretty sure you could find a second hand one with the spec you are seeking or something very close.

A two or three year old low mileage ( ish ) car is the way to go,you'll avoid a lot of the depreciation hit and save yourself a nice wad of cash in the process, bit of a no brainer really.

Exactly what I did when I bought the Jaaaaag. We found it entirely by accident having test driven a couple of cars, and I'd decided that I quite liked the XF but with some very specific requirements. One popped up a couple of weeks later that was in the right paint colour, the right wheels, the right engine, the right trim level, the right interior colour - only problem was the fact it was a year or two newer than we wanted, so the price was a bit high. But it was a third less than it had been when new, still in excellent condition, and the only thing it didn't have that I wanted was a sunroof. I think I can live with myself for having given that up ;)

For me, certainly with motorbikes have typically always gone new, mainly for the fact know its straight etc not been crashed and know I have ran it in correctly. Had a Bmw R1200s used not that old to but was showing signs of bad running in, most likely babied to much.

Cars we have had have been ok generally, but even with current jazz some issues, and was this why they sold it on etc, never know what happens to a vehicle in others hands lol.

GSB-TDU // New Car 2020 or 2021

Post by GreySilver Beast » Thu Apr 05, 2018 12:24 am

Glad I could help you Lee with some New Car Advice :thumleft:

I have bought 4 Used Cars, 4 Demo Cars and currently on 8 New Cars

Once you buy New Cars  you rarely go back to buying Used Cars #-o , so my next car will most probably be Brand New and that there will be at least 2 cars being Traded in at the same time along with it being a Cash Purchase as well :P

I have no intention of paying List Price and am looking at using one of the following Brokers to get my next car from :

Drive the Deal
Carwow
Broadspeed
Carfile
Autoebid

I used Drive the Deal when I bought the Honda Jazz and saved £6,000 from List Price as my Local Honda Dealer matched their offer price =D>

In some cases the big discounts wipe out the first years depreciation and so the Used Car can work out more than the Brand New one that comes with the Full Warranty, Breakdown Cover and Service Package from first registration :!:

Anyway I can see where some of you are coming from  , but I still much prefer Brand New Cars that no one else has driven apart from the small amount of delivery mileage that is on the car :!:

Head Up Display (HUD) is now installed in the GT86 along with a On and Off Switch =D>

It only cost £17.99 which is a real bargain which plugs directly into the ECU via the OBDII Port :thumright:

Secured 4E HUD a little bit better on the Dash, as it's now in front of me instead

It's wired directly to the OBDII Steve so feeds off the cars computer and there is a Switch if it needs to be turned off when the Engine is running :thumleft:

As I said to Nick (13Black) earlier, will take some photo's in the dark later as Cameras don't do it justice in the Daylight :!:

Just read through some of your thread, that's a long shopping list for your GT86! I take it power/handling isn't your thing?

I did some early forced induction development on the FA20 platform 5 or 6 years ago - probably still have some bits somewhere!

Had the car Re-Mapped but just couldn't justify the cost on fitting a Turbo or Supercharger to the car, which is one of the many reasons why I not done that :!:

There is nothing wrong with the handling so why change something that isn't broken  and have driven 45 Track Days in this car

Wasn't criticising your car chap! I had one of the first Sprintex superchargers in the country and I can categorically recommend not ever buying one :)

Have you got the later rear anti-roll bar? (16mm) - if not that's a fantastic upgrade on a standard suspension car. You can pick them up for peanuts from standard WRX hatchback Imprezas (not the STI though).
