What is it about the Brits though? Online, it is ALWAYS us lot who spot pun potential and batter it into submission. The Americans don't do that! The Irish do but those poor sods have to live next to us so are used to it.

I think it's bee-cause we have quite a strong sense of irony & self-depreciating humour. That causes us to bee-have in a bee-zarre way to the rest of the world.Vian wrote:What is it about the Brits though? Online, it is ALWAYS us lot who spot pun potential and batter it into submission. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
My favourite pun of all time came from a punster 500 years ago. He was meant to be extremely sharp (just like any comedian I guess) and was challenged to make one up on the spot. "upon what subject?" he asked. "The King!", came the reply. "The King is not a subject sir".
Magnificent.
Magnificent.

Just went on eBay and paid more than I really should have on a nice set of 17" Enkei RP03 wheels, and a decent set of lightly used Bridgestone RE050 in 245/45/17.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Spent today swapping the suspension from my old car onto my new car by myself, lowered suspension (-45mm) fits on easy, stock not so much
Thought I'd try an old wives tale for removing rust and loctite from 13 year old bolts using 50p worth of white vinegar from Sainsbury's. Could see the solution bubbling away in the sun when I agitated them The finished result is astounding
Really impressed with the £20 Lidl impact driver, spent ages on one side under the car trying to fit the breaker bar in to loosen the lower suspension bolts then thought I'd try the other side with the impact not expecting much but it spun the bolts right off Thought I'd try an old wives tale for removing rust and loctite from 13 year old bolts using 50p worth of white vinegar from Sainsbury's. Could see the solution bubbling away in the sun when I agitated them The finished result is astounding

However - you will need to coat them with something pretty much instantly otherwise they will rust up again very quickly, as you've removed not just the rust, but also any surface coatings such as any zinc plating which was previously preventing the nuts from rusting. (There's some stuff on my thread if you want to go geeky doing your own zinc plating)
Impressed that the Lidl impact driver worked well -

From looking at the pics you may have your anti rattle shims in the wrong place, it looks like you have them in the middle, you want them ideally in the bottom half of the caliper, the two prongs go into the caliper.SAS wrote:Fitted These bad boys, braided brake lines and new brake fluid

Clocked-up 76 miles on track at Kirkistown.
4th gear synchro now complaining when upshifting above 8k revs.
Fine on the way home at roads speeds.
Hoping that gearbox oil change and clutch line bled might sort the 'box but I doubt it. Could have been damage as a result of running Fuchs gear oil for a year before switching back to Redline.
Still don't regret as it's been a great weekend with 22 drivers staying over with us last night - great craic.
Photos and vids to follow.

On the flip-side I am the new custodian of the car James sold, just enjoyed an 80 mile drive back in it.
I have to admit to feeling a bit of pressure to keep it in the fantastic condition James has kept it in!

I just copied where Dan had put the shim is his brake photo, its got to come off anyway, I'm waiting for one to be delivered as my set only came with one, so I had to make this one but the metal is too soft.Eddie_r32 wrote:From looking at the pics you may have your anti rattle shims in the wrong place, it looks like you have them in the middle, you want them ideally in the bottom half of the caliper, the two prongs go into the caliper.SAS wrote:Fitted These bad boys, braided brake lines and new brake fluid
