Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I've been underwhelmed with the audio quality of my dashcam making the car sound like a hoover so I fitted a high quality Sennheiser lavalier mic to the rear and after some trial and error found a sweet spot which picks up the engine note but not the wind noise

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Only had time to give mine a wash this weekend. Depressing as it always shows the paint scratches as I have no time to do anything else.
Mind you, before Tunerfest I'll be spoiling it rotten with fresh glaze and wax, so I'll cope for next 2 weeks with it as it is.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The mother of all "I fancy a drive, want to come along" yesterday.
Left Epsom and all the drivel who come to town because of some male and alcohol-driven event in the downs and drove towards Faversham for a meal.
Then metaphorically hugged the coast all the way to Hastings for a nice fish & chips supper. Then up the A22 to M25.
Too many places to mention, but it took nearly 300 miles. EPIC

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
It's been a busy weekend for me and my Rex.
Yesterday morning I got an oil leak and coolant leak fixed by Luke Murdoch which is fantastic.
Checked over all the suspension and brakes to give her a clean bill of health for the track by lunch time.
In the afternoon took off the front bumper off to access my AEM air filter and the front offside light.
Cleaned the air filter with a kit I purchased a while ago. Unfortunately I can't fix the halo light that has stopped working without cracking the light open which I didn't have time to do.
Swapped out the radio and heater controls and wired a double power socket into the glove box. Radio working but aircon still not working. I was hoping to fix 2 issues with 1 part swap out.
Today I swapped out all the speakers and amps which fixed some intermittent speaker problems. Didn't realise how much work and time would be involved. Cleaned out my catch can which for the first time had very little in it. Cleaned the MAF and greased the steering UJ. After all that spent a couple of hours cleaning the car.
The car feels much better at low revs as it was getting a bit "jerky" only way I can describe it really. It's also stopped sputtering at high revs too.
All in all a brilliant weekend, I love spending time on my car

Had it confirmed that all 4 tyres are worn and will not survive another track session, now where is the hammer for the piggy bank?
Booked in for 4 tyres and full alignment check / adjust on Wednesday afternoon.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Currently have 245/35-18 Pirelli P Zero Corsa Direziones which are excellent but seriously costly as they are now around £200 a corner so they are out of the question and I have gone for the latest P Zero which is asymmetric and a chunk cheaper.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
My friend is running some P-zeros on his car and says that they are a great tyre, but I'd wager we'll find out for sure on Saturday!
Should be good though. I've got a pair on the front of the A6 avant and they do hold very well, especially on a 2-tonne car!

I was going to try to replace my front discs and pads, but chickened out. Fear I might not have all necessary tools and cleaning/lubricant/dexterity to complete the job.
Having an MOT done at the same time as well, so might as well hand the whole job to my local guy.
Need to volunteer to help someone doing the same job to learn.

Liking this! Are you leaving the full beam section chrome? Could you check with your mate about the rear lights.Dan.NJ72 wrote:

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I will be, yes, mainly because if you paint it then the light output is reduced to almost nothing - kinda defeating the point of the main beams lol. Although my mate is going to have a look at a light tint so it is less of a contrast.
Also, no go on the rears without cutting them open as they are ultrasonically welded
I did ask, but he said he didn't want to start messing about with cutting because of the potential cost if it goes wrong...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Don't worry, it can seem daunting, but it's a really easy job - IIRC you need 2 different size sockets (4 bolts in total) and some elbow grease That and Cera-Tec or Copper Grease for lubricationwgimenes wrote:I was going to try to replace my front discs and pads, but chickened out.
