2022 Tour De Snowdonia weekend break... Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May

Pub meets, drives and social events. For good food and good company while the car stays in the car park, or for a pleasurable drive through the countryside.

Hahah! Yeah, I kinda wish someone took a photo of my face wincing as I climbed on  It was probably creased up in pain like wrapping paper on christmas

I think I heard what... 6 pops from the bonnet bending under my hunk of weight? All popped back though, so job's a good 'un. And the bonnet paint is not the greatest anyway and is bent at the back, so worst comes to worst I already had a spare bonnet that'd just need paint  worth it for the photo 100%

Major credit to Liam for taking the photo =D> =D> =D>

Sorry to hijack the thread, but we 100% need the full size one up here (or as "full size" as I can get it) :giggle:

Naomi is going to look into the discount for 10+ rooms at the quay hotel this week for us. Will be able to have RX8 designated bays reserved for all the cars and hopefully nobody has booked a wedding or event either so we can book the function room for a big group meal and beverages in the evening. For those who missed the link the hotel is:

I have already asked her that. She can but its £25 extra on the room price at the moment. She is going to ask about reduction etc but is the worth the money? Is it worth googling Tesla fast charge before the meet in llangollen? Not sure, have a think about it.

No problems. The hotel is halfway round the route and about an hour from the first meet in llangollen going the direct a5 route, not the zigzag we will be doing during thw day. Ideal for the Sat night, and i will be driving from the area sat morning. More than happy to ask for a 2 night stay or for those wanting to stay 2 nights is it worth looking at a hotel in the start/finish point for 1 of the nights?

I suppose The Quay could be pricey for 2 nights, having thought it through again after looking at the actual route we will probably just head home from Llangollen after the second days drive or do a bit more exploring of Wales as Kathy will also be a pensioner by then so no rush to get back to work on Monday!
Just the one night at The Quay then please Drew.

Looking at the current hotel prices, will only be looking for one night in that case and would assume Alan will be thinking the same as me

May be worth looking at a possible hotel at the end of the trip on the Sunday :?: :!:

Drew what is the length of the drive on Saturday and Sunday, then I can work out if I need to charge or wait until I get back to Telford Tesla Superchargers on the Sunday :thumleft:

Not sure I want to pay £25 to secure a PDC in advance at the moment Drew

If you click on the Google maps route links in the first post Nigel you can see how far and how long the drives are each day. Just come in the GT86 and your electric worries will no longer exist.

Just looked at the A453 and I can see how it has earned its reputation for being a fast road, steady 60 along it will seem slow!!!

More driving time on this event than at a track day Nigel so if you relate the hotel costs to a Silverstone or Brands GP day its reasonable!!

Only the one night at the Quay. A hotel near the start of the route for the Friday night would be ideal. What would the intended start time be on Saturday?

Just before you all panic at hotel prices, I have a very good contact who works there in reservations and is going to discuss a club multi booking discount. Especially seen as most of you know her 😉 Also prices at the moment are at a premium due to bookings could be sold about 20x over here at the moment it is so busy for tourism.

Nigel, it is not a prebooking paid now but bolted on to the bill for your room. Again, she may be able to get you a discount. Not sure on that one as she has never had to. But even a 20% discount would leave it at £20 and i wandered if even this is still worth the value compared to a fast charge?

If we're going to combine the proposed Anglesey track day with this trip then I'm game. Don't know what the likelihood will be of a opportunely timed day there though. Obviously that would change the hotel requirements.

If I was coming up just for the Snowdonia drive then the Quay only makes sense for the Saturday as it's an extra hour+ in the wrong direction from the staring point.

Of course people do not have to stay at the quay by the way, It is simply a suggestion as it is the end of the route 1, and probably the best in the area as people will probably be able to tell in the pictures on the website. You are more than welcome to find another hotel and there is a premier inn at black cat roundabout llandudno junction which is about 1.5 miles from the quay where the meal will be. However, the room rate there is normally about £80 a night cheaper than the quay, before group discount, but it is adjacent to the A55 by about 10m if you have a rear room which can be an issue for sleep having known people stay there so please ask for a front facing room if booking theyre. Theyre is plenty of B+Bs in Llandudno itself about 10 miles away though parking is non existent and rooms in the town sell at a premium so are not much cheaper when you budget paying for parking. Please let me know if you are going ro find alternate accommodation on your own though, as it may affect our bargaining power for rooms and rates at the quay.

This is the point i was trying to highlight that it is more of a mid point stopover and not ideal for 2 nights due to start/finish. There is a hotel called the wild pheasent i think it is in llangollen which has an impressive looking design and looks nice, and is metres away from the start with a large car park. That may be a good option for those wanting somewhere on either the fri before night or the sun night after as the start and finish are in the same place. I have never been before and can only comment on the outside and signage etc looking good

Meet from 10am, looking at leaving for 1030am. First stop of the day in Ruthin, drop down to country cooks for lunch which has become our usual tea/cake/lunch break on our drive outs. Onto the evo triangle and a camp out stop on the top where the pics have been taken before, onwards to betws and backroad to Dolgarrog. Stop at surf snowdonia just as its an interesting first as an inland lagoon then onto hotel. Should be there between 3-4pm at the quay for check in and relax until meal and socialising at 7pm. Same again on day 2. Meet around the cars from 10 to leave at 1030, along a55 and drop down in to betws for a tourist part, onwards to blaenau and lunch in the hotel Simon works with/we tea breaked at before, head out on the top gear roads to bala and next stop rhug estate near corwen. A5 blast down to llangollen to that wild pheasant hotel potentially for Tea and goodbyes at about 3-4pm.....some may want to stay there or continue home.
