Kent Meet - Tuesday ***Cancelled for now***

Shagrington and GSB-TDU have decided to set up a New Monthly Meet in the Kent Area that has effectively replaced the old Dartford Meet that was lacking members turning up per month . The New Venue has a better selection of Food on the Menu and isn't badly priced for the Kent Area

This New Location is accessible via the A20, A2, M20, M2, M26, M25 and from Brands Hatch side

The Lion operates ANPR cameras in the car park, so make sure you type in your number plate at the Bar via the Tablet Screens to get free car parking, alternatively you can park in the road near the Bridge

This isn't such a great distance from The Wharf where the Dartford meets took place - just another couple of junctions south on the M25 (about 8 minutes from the Dartford crossing according to the sign I saw lit up on the M25) then follow the signs to Brands Hatch until you get to the petrol station by a roundabout - swing round that to the road that takes you down past other side of the petrol station.

The menu choices are better and the prices aren't so different. Let us know if you're coming any time before the next meet so Nigel can book a table with enough seats.

Are there really so few members in the area that fancy a drink and banter? Or are willing to drive a bit? Malcolm and I live 60 miles away and we made it last time. I'm only not there this month because I'm 5000 miles away.

Feel free to swap back to The Wharf guys, I only suggested The Lion because I prefer it even though it's an extra 3 mins drive. I find The Lion great if you sit upstairs (lots of tables, order at the bar, much nicer than downstairs) but a bit generic if you book a table downstairs in the restaurant and do table service as we did last time.

Is that a possibility and you don't have to book a table? I do prefer The Lion and it means a lot less M25 and no Dartford Tunnel traffic to deal with for me, so if we carry on going there we should do that in future.
If some people can't do the extra 10 minutes from Dartford to get there and if they will come in enough numbers, then a return to The Wharf looks like a possibility .... but if we just can't get the numbers I can see the meet dying altogether, which would be a shame.

Yeah whenever I go to The Lion with other friends we sit in the bar area (left and upstairs as you go in). There's a wide variety of table sizes and they're spaced further apart than in the downstairs restaurant. There's no booking in the bar area and every time I've been there loads of tables were free. Probably no good if you're a party of 12 or more, but handy if you're a smaller group or just taking Nigel on a romantic date. So just an FYI for anyone who visits there.

Given the distance, I'll be planning to get to a few of these in the Spring/Summer next year. Don't fancy the long drive at this time of the year in the dark. Lion was excellent - I prefer it to the Wharf, but I'm not going to get to the majority of meets, so regulars should decide.

Also helps that I get 20-25% off food and drink at Vintage Inns for table of up to 10 with AA or Times+
