Good morning. I am going to use our thread to high light some of the observations i have made when reading some of the other regional meet posts with a view to attending some of them as a basic member or guest, who maybe doesn't use the forum much.
Clarity. It is difficult to tell in some cases a location or date, and who is the event organiser.
Frequency. So many have been cancelled for one reason or another, weather is often blamed, but lack of info would be my guess with so many differing opinions, leaving me guessing whether it is happening or not, and where and when.
As a club, it is surely in the interest of us all to keep all these meets going,
If it helps, our meet never changes date or frequency, even during the pandemic, we simply took the meet outside next to a chip shop and it worked.
Some may say that never changing may be a bit mundane, but there are changes clearly accessed within the thread, ie 4 locations with a different menu every time we return. Our regulars or anyone recently joining will have at least a months notice of the next one, maybe even more if they look at the club calendar which is maintained by a very helpful member.
Deposits. At this time of year, many venues will ask for deposits in order to secure a space. This maybe a way of gauging attendance by asking people to commit, thus saving the organiser the embarrassment of facing the venue staff and in some cases having to stump up themselves, a scenario that
luckily we have not had to face.
I really hope that this tirade helps , but if it doesn't, simply ignore it, thanks rob.

Having looked more closely at the members list, i noticed that there are quite a few paid members within easy reach of this, why not come along, you never know, you may enjoy it. Plenty of notice is required though at this time of year, see you there, rob.

Hello, another great turn out and lots of putting the world to rights.
As we discussed and agreed on, the date and time and place for our yule tide meet are clearly marked above, and the full menu is also clearly displayed, thanks to our mate from down there.
We also all agreed that our particular choices on the menu would be made known on here well before the 30th of November as the venue needs 2 weeks notice.
As we seem to be a reliable bunch, who turn up when they say they will, the venue does not require a deposit, a reflection perhaps of the way we operate as a team, if some other members wish to put their names forward to attend, and i do expect a few given the activity lately of members seeking out events, all we ask is that you think before committing, especially at this time of year.

To get the ball rolling, our mate Agnetha is having Garlic belly pork followed by Christmas pudding.
On another note and having observed recent activity on the forum, we decided to hold the meet here as it is pretty close to at least 5 members that we know of, so, if you wish to attend a reliable meet that will never get cancelled for whatever reason, please post up here, thanks, rob.

Just checking menu choices. Do we have 7 or fewer people? If so it says we don't need to preorder and can order off the standard menu.

It is so difficult to gauge numbers when no one replies, so far we have not managed to add any new members despite many living within easy reach of this. Any help you or others can offer with spreading the word would be very useful.
