Details for June's meet -

Sunday 9th June
Horse & groom pub
Horse & groom Lane
Chelmsford
CM2 8PL
From 11am

The Horse & groom pub is on Galleywood common where they have regular car & bike club meets
The pub will be open from midday & be able to order from the menu from the bar from snacks to a full lunch
There is also a bike club meet that day too.
I'll be there at 11am to park on the green & we can line up & get some good photos off the cars
We'll have some lunch & then we can all go off on a drive through the lanes & countryside.
If it is raining that Sunday the landlord said he'll reserve some table for us inside

Thank you to everyone who came along to the meet yesterday and made it such an enjoyable and social event. At least it was dry, but a little chilly for June. It was great to see the regulars, but fantastic to see so many new faces this time too. Well done to SteveBishopRx8 for organising the venue and the drive-out route. He also did an amazing job in keeping a convoy of (I think ) 10 cars together for the majority of the 1 hour tour

We aren't planning a meet in July as it's already a busy month with holidays and the Club Annual Meet weekend. We'll have a look to organise something in August, if enough people are not too busy that month, else restart in September.

Next car event for me, and many others, is JDM Combe on 20 July - here's hoping for some warmer weather

The next Essex meet will be Sunday, 18 August. This date is just a few days after Ray Harrison's birth date, so a tribute to him establishing the Essex monthly meets, many years ago.

Most likely, the meet will involve a food venue and a drive-out, as recent events using this arrangement have been well attended.

I'm sorry you can't make the August meet, Derek. The date worked for Steve and I and so we just decided to go for it, as we needed time to organise.

Let us know any Sundays you can't make in September and early October and we'll make sure you can make the next one.

The next meet is very close to what would have been Ray Harrison's Birthday (15th Aug), so the this is something of a homage to Ray, a club founder and ex-club chairman, who started the Essex Meets and Essex Breakfast runs waaaaay back. For reference, we will be on some the the roads that Ray planned for a Breakfast meet back in 2009! See here viewtopic.php?f=242&t=27187 if you are interested in some club history.

This meet will start at the "Tiptree Heath nature reserve" car park, postcode CO5 0PT, on the B1022 (Maldon Road) just south-west of Maldon.

Aim to be there in good time to leave in convoy at 10.30am.

The route from there, which I will provide later to those who plan to come along, will take about an hour, plus a short stop at Abberton Reservoir for some photos.

Huge thanks to Adam (AutomotiveMasochist) for planning this meet a couple of months back. I have followed his plan with just a slight adjustment to the starting point and early drive section.

I have made a provisional table booking for noon and it is looking like they are very busy, so I need numbers for lunch ASAP.
