A meet being a long way away is a good reason not to attend in these days of high fuel costs but rather than make this an issue here perhaps you should try to organise a meet nearer to yourself which may well also be nearer to several other club members and thus become an addition meet on the clubs calendar.Red & Black wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 11:28 pmSadly I didn't know Harrizone and I'm not saying his name shouldn't be remembered, but it seems very few who knew him, now attend! I think it's 3 and only one has an RX8 on the road. The club surely is about the car and to encourage more members to attend maybe there could be the Harrizone Meet and separate Essex/Suffolk/Herts Meet? The monthly Meet is not advertised on the RX-8 Owners Club UK Facebook page that is run by Ann Carter with nearly 1O,OOO members and there is no mention of Meets on the clubs official Fb page when you click the F icon on the top of this page! Where are you posting the information?
No, you can't force anyone to attend, but by using all options that are available you can go a lot further in getting the information to all platforms.
As the Meet is more about the memory of Harrizone and not about the RX8, it is a long way to drive, so I won't be attending.
If you click on my Signature that says : Administrator from 2012 - present 'RX-8 Owners Club UK' this will take you straight to the Facebook Group where the pinned posts are, and all events in the club are listed on it
Had you've scrolled further up the page you would of seen that I had made suggestions, as the current Essex Meet format looks to be teetering on the edge of collapse! Far be it for me to tread on anyone's toes and set up a Meet in the area of the Essex & Adjoining Counties, which includes my county Suffolk. Speaking to other members at various Club Meets I've attended this year, it has become apparent that there are options and channels to explore and I was merely trying to help and support the Meet and the integrity of Ray Harrison, who's name clearly means [judging by the comments] an awful lot to long term members.Metelyk wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 12:27 amI think perhaps the last two posts have rather forgotten that it is important to retain the event due to its links to the Club’s history and a former member. Rather than criticise perhaps they should suggest how to improve the event so it has broader appeal, or fully take on the organisation of it themselves.
Thank you. For someone that is still relatively new to the RX-8OC, I am still finding my way around the club's social media platforms which include three Facebook pages [includes RX-8OC]. I had already discarded the FB page that I now know contains a full list of Meets, only because there has been no posts added to it since September 2O21! I just glanced at it and thought it had been abandoned and the other FB pages had superseded it!ChrisHolmes wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 9:47 amA meet being a long way away is a good reason not to attend in these days of high fuel costs but rather than make this an issue here perhaps you should try to organise a meet nearer to yourself which may well also be nearer to several other club members and thus become an addition meet on the clubs calendar.
The F link on the forum header does not lead to the official RX-8OC group which does have a list maintained by Nigel off all the monthly meets and more that take place. The F button not leading to this group has been mentioned before but remains unchanged.
Have a look here Derek https://www.facebook.com/rx8oc/events note the subtle difference in the page name versus here https://www.facebook.com/RX8OCUK/events
