Whining from back seat issue...?

Post by Partyhardmonks »

I've read and read. I changed out my fuel pump because I thought it was the the whining of the pump(about to die). It's not my gf, wife, kid etc ...(seen that comment alot).

I still have the whine noise and not understanding what it's from still sounds like it's from the back seat sounds like a lobster in a boiling pot. Doesn't happen all the time but when it happens it's annoying. Usually happens when driving. If you step on gas the noise gets louder like high pitched. Then if you step off gas it's fine(reason I thought it was the fuel pump). Eventually goes away but comes back every now and then and lasts like 30mins to an hour.

Anybody have a little idea.... Or tip where to look?

Yeah I’d say diff or Rear brakes/bearing

Try pulling the Room fuse and see if the noise stops.
Most of the audio system is powered-up even if the head unit is off, and sometimes you can get electrical noise amplified through the rear speakers.
Don't ask how I know this

Not coming from the speakers first thing I checked.

When I mean high whine man I mean like a whine not a screech. Not brakes as they are just redone not even 5milea ok them. Rear diff could be but when I mean the sounds in the back seat it will even do it parked.

I get it funny but really gets old fast.

Just sounds like a 🎈 squealing. Used to have a 20b rx8 twin turbo. Sold it for a girl then got this one and have a lot of experience but this one thing I just can't pin point it.

Does the pitch or volume change if the fuel tank is near empty compared to full?

........but when I mean the sounds in the back seat it will even do it when sitting still/parked.
Just to be sure, I presume the sound goes with the ignition off?

If he sound is there when stationary, and only present when the ignition is on, then it has to be the fuel pump or amp/speakers. I can't think of anything else that it could be if the sound is there when stationary?

Try it with the fuel cap off
If it’s doing it when stationary I agree with Casey it’s fuel pump or air leak
Although you changed the pump they can dry out and squeal if left lying around

Sound isn't there when ignition is off. But the fuel pump is brand new DW300 just changed out on Saturday. Unless there's a hose making the noise but don't understand how it would . When stationary yes and higher pitch when you step on the gas. To me sounds like fuel pump and that's the reason I parked it last year and changed it this year. But took for a ride and still doing the same thing.

Could it just be the sound deadening isn't functioning correctly? (not sure what this consists of under the back seats)

I have a Walbro fitted about 5 years ago. I've never noticed any unsual whining sound.

I can try it's definitely the fuel pump making the noise but it's brand new so it has to be something else no....?

Maybe everyone is right about the speakers why would they do that.... How to fix it... It's buzzing out the blue though. 9 years with the thing and last year was the year for it? Any reason behind it? I unplug the pump and it goes away. But now people said the speakers I can hear it more now then not. It's very misleading. It sounds like a dead pump whine and now it sounds like the pump is over working. But I can clearly hear it from speakers bow but the whine I have to disconnect speakers and see if it's still there or goes away.

Ahhh ground loop, bad ground etc.... Never had it happen before m guess I have to reground and get some ilground isolators.
