I woukd rather throw the shoft in the bin than cut my buckle.

Got the alignment done today.

Wasnt actually too far out to start with considering I have had alot of the suspension off.

It feels a lot better now, less vague in the corners and easier to point where you want it.

The bloke even said he would tweak it after my trackday if I noticed it needed anything sorting in particular

They would probably work better if you have a bit of a belly. I'm thin as a rake so the angle of the belt isn't so steep and the shoft doesn't really grip that great at that angle.

Obviously this is secondary to the fact you need to cut a safety device to install on an RX8 in the first place, which doesn't sound ideal to me

The function of the Shoft doesn't depend on the occupant of the seat being stout, however it does depend on it being fitted correctly.

This isn't possible with double threaded tabs, as fitted to the RX-8, without removing the secondary loop on the seatbelt tab.
I had long discussions with the inventor of the product and checked with the government-run MOT test centres here in NI, before being convinced that this is indeed a safe strategy.

The sole function of the secondary loop on the tab is to increase friction when the seatbelt isn't in use, and therefore make it easier to find as it doesn't tend to slide down the belt. Once the Shoft is fitted this has much the same effect when the belt is slack, while also providing all the advertised benefits when in use.

Obviously, if you're not prepared to modify the original belt tab then the Shoft is not for you, unless it fits other cars you may drive. I'm not surprised that you were offered a refund as the company is only interested in satisfied customers

Modifying any safety system directly removes any responsibility of the xar manufacturer if any part of the system doesnt work!

Also I would be very careful fitting that to seatbelts where the explosive tensioner in in the buckle. That pulls on the belt some 15cm. Imagine the force it would create on the body since the lover part cant slide in the intended/designed manner...

I would be very surprised that a government run mot test centre would condone modifying a factory safety device errelrvant of its actual function.
I assume they wouldn't provide a formal statement to that effect?

I do also feel that if you are a larger set person, the angle will be steeper which will make the brake pad push harder against the lap belt section which will make it work much better. If you are slim, the belt does work its way back to being loose quite quickly.

It's very much a JML product. A good idea, but the reality of it is so so.
