my dad worked customer service for Renault, apparently evaporation and icing were a big pain on the turbo renaults.
Thanks, Stu

I see the throttle body warming circuit has been removed, which is asking for trouble in normal British weather.

As far as I know, Revs seem to not connect this back up on rebuild... Or at least, the two R3s I've owned that were built by them shortly before I got them had the same setup with coolant not running through the throttle body... Never had any issues, and if they do this on most builds, i'd have expected something to creep up by now if there was something catastrophically wrong :-k
Yep this is correct as I asked them about this seems to be what they do by standard. I keep my car out all the time and never had an issue in any weather

Intake icing is most likely when the ambient is a few degrees above freezing and the humidity is high.

Yep, common issue in winter the throttle body ices up when you're idling and the engine gets rough, stumbles returning to idle or stalls after being in low speed traffic. Seen it on a lot of cars where people disconnect that somehow believing cooling the throttle body down slightly will gain them anything power wise (it's not even measurable on a dyno).
I had it so bad on one car I had to keep adding IPA to the fuel to dissolve the ice with pre-throttle injectors.
Common fix on carbs too.

Connect it back up. Not worth the hassle. It's not done by almost every manufacturer going for nothing.

Rudimentary watermeth injection kit is my guess.
Had another look and I do believe you are correct as I've found some other hoses coming out of that tank and followed them to a pump of sorts and the red and black wires leading from it got to the MAF and past the firewall and guessing it goes to the ecu or its module or something. So all in all its not a pre mix tank lol. Here is a picture and thank everyone for the information, I think I will start a post somewhere when I start doing things.

its one of those bs hydrogen fuel cell power adders.
the theory is you put water and electricity in, and get hydrogen out and it adds power....

but the parasitic draw of creating the hydrogen (if it even manages to) far outstrips the power of any hydrogen produced..... basic physics.

i thought it might be that but didn't think anyone was stupid enough to fit one these days..

get it ripped out.

LOL I thought the same James but decided to leave posting until the pipes had been followed and further info was known. This may also explain the extra wiring in the engine bay.

Might as well leave the tank for fitting a SOHN in the future, that way at least part of it will be useful.
