Hi,
Not a very exciting question, but has anyone replaced the windscreen washer jet nozzles on a series 1 rx8?
If so where did you get one from? Amazon and eBay have them but claim to not be compatible.
Thanks
Rich

Re: Jet washers
My '68 Alfa has hot screen wash, thanks to a heat exchanger on the heater pipework.
Works really well and much better than the heated jets on the Jags that I've had.

Too late for this > https://www.catawiki.com/en/l/34272997- ... -1960-1970
You could create something similar, though less effective, using a length of aluminium pipe set in the heater circuit (as above) and then coil a long length of washer water tube wound around it, with an outer cover of foil heat shielding.
The trick is to keep the run from the heat exchanger to the jets as short as possible, so there's no delay in the hot water coming through.

Re: Jet washers
I fitted Mazda cx5 nozzles, purchased from Mazda for not too much, they fit fine but the piping just need a little re-routing they supply a heavier stream rather than the fine fan of spray

Re: Jet washers
How is it in practice when 60-70deg water hits the ice cold glass ? I think that is perfectly safe for headlight washer.

Re: Jet washers
Ps for rx-8 perfect spot would be on heater core hose. Constant hot water flow.
Though another concern is all the heat will evaporate the alcohol from the liquid that is sitting in the chamber. Thus to freeze at higher temp than intended.

Re: Jet washers
You have to use alcohol-free screenwash anyway, to avoid damage to the headlight plastic.Milos_Balunovic wrote:Ps for rx-8 perfect spot would be on heater core hose. Constant hot water flow.

Re: Jet washers
I think Peugeot were one of the first manufacturer to offer heated washer fluid, they passed I pipe through a rudimentary heat exchanger on the exhaust manifold possibly on the early 405s

Re: Jet washers
Back on topic, I sourced a pair of replacement jets from Big Pete at Boston Rotary a few years back, cost me a few quid. Said jets then went on a very convoluted journey - Pete took them to a car show where he gave them to Nigel, who then transported them to Spa in Belgium, where I picked them up and fitted them before getting on track. Probably would have been cheaper to post them
And they made an instant difference. Well happy with that result. Although if you have some spare time, you might want to try pulling the existing ones and dropping them into the kettle when you next descale it. You might be surprised at the improvement in jet flow.
