I don't know if I'm mis-remembering or not, but I'm pretty certain that car HV09 HZT was on autotrader a couple months back for £5k and with previous NSR damage on the arch/fuel flap area. Had the same images so hasn't been sold since then - I believe it flagged up on autotrader as a cat tag in the thumbnail like they do :-k :-k

Had been trying to see if I can see old removed autotrader listings to check but haven't been able to :(

Even with regular beeps to 9k odd.. I'd struggle to get that low mileage. My lowest tank ever was about 180 miles. And that's purely because I had to sit in low gears at low speeds most of the journeys I was making. 😂

Even with my meh compression right now I should still hit 220mpg this tank (e10 sucks I've decided..)

We just have to take that most "motor journalists" have 0 real world experience with an 8.

Ahh, didn't spot it being back on autotrader :lol: #-o although he personally doesn't list a thing about it being Cat S on his description on autotrader nor on pistonheads, only autotrader's automatic check thingy flags it which is basically a mini HPI check [-X He's not reuploaded the photo of the damage though - as on his first listing it had that in there. Hey ho :roll: It wasn't all too bad of a hit and it'll likely have been repaired ok, but it'd still be better of him to disclose it a bit better, especially on the PH advert :scratch:

That doesn't sound right to me Andy! Last time my fuel consumption got that bad I found an injector leak..

Waaay off-topic but related to the last two posts...
Spoiler:
Many years ago a workmate bought a Triumph Herald and was obsessive about fuel economy.

He did a few modifications to the car to improve economy and even ran the tyres at higher pressures.

He kept a log of his mileage and how much fuel it was taking to brim the tank each time, and his calculations showed that he was getting more and more mileage week-to-week.

It got to the point that he was reporting nearly 50mpg, which meant that there was clearly something wrong, despite his denials.

One morning he came out to the car and found a massive pool of petrol under the rear :shock:

Among the modifications he had made were;
- locking fuel cap
- electric fuel pump

The cap wasn't vented, unlike the original, and the new fuel pump was quite powerful.

This combination meant that each week it took less and less fuel to fill the tank, as the tank was getting smaller and smaller, as the sides collapsed with the vacuum, until it split....
