Re: Not RX8,,, cool RX4 rotary Estate FS FB market place
The rotarys where classed as RX4s
I also believe they where only coupes 2 doors.
The usual petrol engines where 929s
Should be a 4 cylinder OHC 2000cc.
If it’s a RX4 estate which I doubt.
Just in case someone hoping to see a 12a/13b under the bonnet.
Still a tasty car.

Re: Not RX8,,, cool RX4 rotary Estate FS FB market place
Its a 929 Estate which would easily convert to an RX-4 as literally the only difference was the engine.
Here in the UK the Rotary RX-4 was imported as a Series 1 Coupe (12A) 1973/74 - Series 2 Coupe 1975 on (First 13B which ultimately became an RX-8 engine ) also a 4 Door saloon and lastly an estate version.
In total across all Rotary RX-4's numbered a total of just 400 UK cars, shame is no data exits to say how many of each models were sold.
The same cars in 929 guise were sold along side the RX-4 and just like the RX-2's and 3's dealers were told to try and sell a ratio of one Rotary to one piston version.
Around the world most RX-4's you see on the internet are actually converted 929's dressed up as RX-4's as the piston version has a lot less value than Rotary's Only way to tell is the chassis number

Re: Not RX8,,, cool RX4 rotary Estate FS FB market place
Yes, it has been to Wheels Day
Like you at Bourne Road Garage in Crayford, I never saw an Estate, plenty of RX-3 Estates but no RX-4 Estates
Seen a few saloons over the years though and a few are still around.
You may or may not know, but during this era it was not actually Mazda, but an outsourced UK company that went by the name of Mazda Motors and they are the ones who told me what they brought across.
This all came out during a meeting with the directors of Blue Print the parts company who proceeded to tell me that in a former guise they were Mazda Motors right up to the import of the RX-7 FD.
Allegedly Mazda did not like the alter ego parts company they had set up and so Mazda took the reins for the first time "officially" in the UK!

There’s a stunning Black RX3 Coupe that I’ve seen attend Cars on the Prom classic car show Christchurch, so has to be local if it’s still in our area
Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of it, maybe someone here knows of it ?

RX-5 was never available here, but we did used to have one immaculate version, the same colour as the one below come to events that was owned by a guy in Reading that was imported from Australia.
Strange car in that its the only car that had a 5 speed manual gearbox but with an extra gear leaver position that locked the transmission like an Automatic car in park.
