Hey All!
As you will no doubt be aware, your committee has been working tirelessly in the background getting some glorious things tee'd up and planned for 2022. The events team has a fantastic thread which has been set up (viewtopic.php?f=101&t=84584) to detail all of the events and potential plans for meets, however we thought you might want to know what else we're up to and planning!
'CAR OF THE MONTH'
This is a bit of a biggie for us in the media team, with more info to be shared as time goes by, but we are going to open entries on the 1st of December for the January COTM! What do you get if you're selected? Well, other than some fantastic bragging points, you'll get a mention in the monthly newsletter, you'll get your own dedicated spotlight page on the forum AND you'll get a super-sexy banner that goes in to the rotation for the whole month! A rough design of said banner is below, so get posting when the thread goes live on December 1st!
YOUTUBE!
You may have seen the shout-outs recently from Honkytonk, as well as the posts I've put up. We are slowly generating a decent amount of member interviews, DIY how-tos, event recaps and track day previews - with a plan to officially launch the YouTube channel in 2022! Watch (pun intended) this space!
1967-2022 - 55th ANNIVERSARY OF THE MAZDA ROTARY ENGINE
2022, for those who are good at mental arithmetic, is exactly 55 years after the release of the original Mazda Cosmo 110S in 1967. A revolutionary car (pun most definitely intended!) for Mazda and the rest of the world; the importance has not been lost on the RX-8 Owner's Club, nor Mazda UK. The number '55' is also synonymous with another car of a rotary persuasion... Again, that hasn't been lost on the committee.
We have some absolutely AMAZING things planned to mark this occasion, some of which we will be able to reveal soon, however other things are still ruminating and will be revealed throughout the year. That said, trust us when we say it’s going to be a year to remember!
2023 CLUB CALENDAR
Given the huge popularity of the 2022 Club Calendar (given the number of pre-orders at least!) plans are already in the works for a celebratory 2023 calendar! It'll be bigger, it'll be better! And if you want to get featured in the calendar then make sure to attend a few events/ meets/ trackdays throughout the year as that'll be the main source of photography! Who knows, perhaps we'll even host a public vote...? Keep 'em peeled!
FAIR TRADE
No, I don't mean coffee! There's been some great developments and discussions with some potential new and returning traders. We can't share too much right now (contract negotiations, you know how it is - I'm kidding, we're just finalising details, twisting arms and such!) but rest assured, there'll be some super exciting shiny things for all you lovely magpies through 2022!
SELL ME ALL THE THINGS
There are rumours that some super-sexy new merch might be on the horizon for the club! What is it? you ask! Not telling! We say. But we hope that there should be something for everyone. New club decals, new t-shirt and hoodIE graphics, new show plates and all manner of prototype things we haven't even thought of yet will be making their way to the club shop over the course of 2022 - GET READY TO REPRESENT!
THE FINISHED ARTICLE
Yes, yes, we know that you're sad there's no club magazine - I'm sad too - but 2022 brings with it a change in the winds! (No, still no magazine...)
Over the course of 2022 we will be trialling different ways of getting written content out to members. The newsletter segments have been well received, so we'll be building on those, but we're also exploring other options to help bring you rotary-related content
If you've made it this far, that last point is for you!
All the Best
