Hi,
I’ve not had an opportunity to investigate yet but my 06 RX8 seems to have sprung an oil leak. Was going to take the car for a drive to the beach today and noticed oil on the garage floor. Reasonable quantity of the stuff. I took it outside and had a quick look underneath, took some pics which I’ve attached hopefully.
Basically it was dripping on the passenger side front, slightly in front of the axle and in slightly further than the front fog light.
Im guessing it’s been collecting inside the plastic underside tray and dripping from that onto the ground.
I was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions as to what may be leaking? Im guessing oil cooler pipes or oil cooler.
I know that removing the underside plastic panel will allow me to get a better idea of what’s up, only not had time to look tonight. Panicked a little as it’s the first leak that I’ve had in the 5 years I’ve owned the car, so just wondering for opinions.
Cheers Tim

Re: Oil Leak
Your first guess is almost certainly correct.
Either an oil cooler matrix from impact damage, or more likely the hose from corrosion.
Thankfully the supplier that provided the replacement hoses for last years group buy is still offering a good deal for one-off orders.

Re: Oil Leak
Hiya, thanks for the links. I’ll aim to take the underside tray off over the next few days and check out for sure. But based on your comment and what else I’ve seen online, I think it’s defo going to be the oil lines.
Do I pm Steve aka fishywick regarding acquiring some new ones?

Re: Oil Leak
If you’re wanting stainless oil cooler lines then Ryan Rotary Performance are selling them at around the same price as the stainless ones from the group buy.

Re: Oil Leak
Yeah I spotted that, think they were £186 + vat. I was thinking of going with the zinc coated connections though. Mainly because the crappy standard pipes have lasted 15 years and weren’t even coated, so the zinc coated ones should last even longer :-)

Re: Oil Leak
oem ones are electro zinc plated (not hot coated so yes a little less protection)Kellytm272 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 9:38 amYeah I spotted that, think they were £186 + vat. Re: Oil Leak
Ah ok thanks for clarifying that. I presumed the old ones weren’t zinc plated and that was the reason they went so bad
