Re: Heater core assembling
The heater core is supplied by Mazda as a complete assembly for good reason, as the pipes aren't designed to be replaceable.
Anything is possible, with the required skills and equipment and you could graft on sections of your old pipes onto the cut-off pipes on the replacement. However, you would have to be very careful to prevent heat from the welding getting back to the core and damaging the construction.
You could roll a bead onto the ends of the pipes and joint with very short hoses.
Personally I would be going back to the seller or throwing it in the bin, as the finished assembly has to run at full system temperatures and pressures, even when the heater is off, and I won't trust any "repair".

Re: Heater core assembling
True, and even moreso when it's buried in the dash and not visible/easily accessible for another repair or replacement. That would not be a fun situation to be in...

Re: Heater core assembling
If they were a standard size you could solder sections of your old pipes in place with standard copper pipe connectors, but I doubt they are anywhere near a standard size(like 8mm,10mm or 15mm)

Re: Heater core assembling
Would it be possible to make the rubber hoses longer.
Changing the heater core looks like a horrible job.
