Guilt or Glee?
Was wondering today after watching the news what RX drivers thought about emissions. My r3 has no hairdryer or cat, and has a stage 1 tune that ups oil pump output. New style 3 position oil injectors and a constant supply of 2 stroke into the fuel ( that lasts next to no time per refill)
Im of two minds in that i love my car and everything about it and would fight tooth and nail if it were to be taken away due to emissions. However, noone could argue that as cars go, its one uneconomical smokey joe! Was wondering what other RX owners thought?

Re: Guilt or Glee?
Mine still has the original cat, but I don't give a stuff how dirty it is as I happily pay the taxes and costs associated with running the car so I have no guilt at all.

Re: Guilt or Glee?
I work on the carbon offset principal. I offset my 3.6 vr6 touareg by planting a fee trees in my garden and growing my own veg. Works for the big corp's so I assume it works for us too.
I'll be using the same argument when I finally get the Nemesis on the road. That and the fact that the RX8 is actually more economical than the VW.

Re: Guilt or Glee?
I punish myself by taking public transport during the week.
Most weekends I use the wife’s Nissan, which has all the style and performance of a beer can, for generic run about.
Between the 2 I think that’s sufficient to offset any enjoyment I may get out of life.

May as well enjoy it while we can. They are going to price these cars and other fun cars off the road pretty soon the way fuel prices are going.

Re: Guilt or Glee?
I have more guilt about not using it since June than I would about any CO2 it might have produced if I had used it.
I suspect the mileage most owners do would mean there's little to be guilty about. I'm down to less than 20 miles per week now...

Re: Guilt or Glee?
the greenwash and hypocrisy over battery vehicles is something that does get my goat
yes they make no emissions at the tailpipe but they cost many times more Co2 to make in the 1st place, it takes about 60-80Kmiles of a BEV to 'pay' for its manufacture
to continue to use an old car is far less damaging than to be buying a new one every 2 years as much as the Government and car manufacturers would like us to do so

True the tax is the worst but soon as that engine gets up to temp, is the best thing ever on 4 wheels ( am a biker)

Re: Guilt or Glee?
My RX8 and M3 are effectively carbon neutral as I opted into the Shell + Programme where after the initial 12 months I will start paying c2p per litre extra which is used to plant trees, generate green electricity and invest in a range green energy projects.
It’s a highly flawed argument of course because my pollution level is still the same but it’s exactly what large industrial polluters do, offset their carbon pollution.
Most of us are possibly the last generation that will appreciate the sound and feel of the internal combustion engine.

I'm with you on this one I think. Maybe we should all tweet her a pic of the lowest fuel consumption figure we can achieve!qwakers wrote:i feel glee knowing my actions are annoying that little hateful troll.
