Yo!
So, in recent weeks driving my 8, i've been noticing that it still blows cold (ish) air when at max A/C on 15deg, but even after a long drive it can't get the ambient temp down in the cabin and I still feel like i'm cooking... I know over winter and spring it was perfectly fine as I used A/C even in those months and it cooled adequately, but i'm not sure if it's just that the system can't deal with the heat in good working order or if it's just mine needing some love and care.
On that thought - where is a good idea to go for a re-gas/check of the aircon and what's the going rates? I know kwikfit and halfrauds seem to do them at varying rates (£50-60) with guarantees and whatnot so I am tempted to just book it in at halfords and get them to touch only the AC
Cheers chaps!

When did you last replace the cabin air filters from behind the glovebox?
If these are mucky then the A/C doesn't stand a chance in this weather.

Oooo... Did that one at the start of this year, new blueprint ones in, so should be ok on that front good point that though - hadn't really thought about physical obstruction to it

While you're at it, check that there's condensation water draining away underneath.

Re: Air Conditioning (Regas?)
I'd avoid Halfords or other franchise like Kwit Fit. They're very hit and miss. Halfords messed up a simple regas for me a couple of months ago and broke my air con. I needed to get an air con specialist to fix Halfords' mistake.
The specialist explained that air con is easy to mess up if the operator doesn't know that specific car well, even for a regas.
I should have just gone to a specialist in the first place. He came to me and still worked out cheaper than the Halfords Autocentre.

Re: Air Conditioning (Regas?)
Is the drain for that above roughly where the gearbox is by the firewall? I had a drip under my car a few months back and I kept checking, thought it was coolant at first but kept checking levels and it was only ever leaking after the car was off and only lasted a minute or two. Assumed it was the AC somehow after a bit of googling, but I haven't checked in a while, so worth a shot. I'll check it over tomorrow
Ok, shall ask around and see what people recommend locally to me - didn't really think much of it how could one mess up a simple Aircon thing when the machine does it for you surely? I shouldn't be too surprised at people's ability to mess stuff up honesltyNew Duke wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 12:07 amI'd avoid Halfords or other franchise like Kwit Fit. They're very hit and miss. if they fill with the wrong gas type this can b'gger up the seals as they will swell
