A little rich for my wallet

Post by poor_lackey »

I'm not sure why it's an investment special
Sure it's a 2012 Sprint R so one of the last, but ... just over 30,000 miles and grade 4.5 so not exactly 'as new'
and 35,800 pound seems a bit on the high side.

Be curious to see what it goes for (if it sells), maybe RX8s are becoming the new investment alternative to cryptocurrency.

That's nuts... Then again - if someone is willing to pay it, then that's what it's worth. I doubt it's that high, but spiritR's will carry premium especially on the export like that.

All it is, is the fact there are so few Spirit Rs and them being restricted to Japan's market when they were made. They definitely demand a premium. Apparently they pop up for sale pretty often though.. So it's likely someone could find what others have sold for some how.

There's always deals to be had, it'd be a hell of a dig to find it on a spiritR and harder as you're half way across the world - but I reckon someone with someone with reach and connections would be able to.... It's out there ;)

A lot of the "special" stuff listed were additions to the base version of the JDM Series 2 but were/are standard on any UK-spec R3, which makes the remaining bits mainly cosmetic.

A little rich for my wallet

Post by GreySilver Beast »

I almost imported a Grey Activematic Spirit R when they came out to replace my R3, but it was going to cost in excess of 35k to get a new one over to the UK

Would have bought all the bits to make it look like a R3, so that was the body kit etc.... :P

What put me off was the amount of money that would of been wiped off the car soon as it arrived at Tilbury Docks :x

I believe someone has imported a Manual Spirit R into the UK, but am not absolutely sure on that :-k
